Default Earthquake shuts down towers in the I.E.

Hello all,

There was a 5.8 earthquake today at 11:47 AM, centered around Chino Hills.

There have been reports on the news that Verizon towers are out in the area. So if you're experiencing problems with your phone, don't panic. Try restarting your phones. If that doesn't solve it, just be patient.

Apparently the towers just tend to shut down after a certain overload point. So don't panic, it doesn't mean damage, its just everyone tends to want to use their phones, and it overloads the system.

Cool, sorry, didn't know there was a Verizon forum.

Hope everyone out there is ok. I just moved from Montclair, 3 miles away from the epicenter, back to Culver City, and I still felt it over here.

None here in Culver City, that I know of. I had just finished playing a song on Rock Band, and I was sitting there, and it was rocking the house quite a bit. LOL, the music was loud, so it took me a sec to realize what it was.

I'm watching the news, and there is some slight flooding on a street in East LA. Looks like a water main broke below street level, and is seeping up to the street, not too thick, but they're being cautious because they don't want it to turn into a sink hole.

I wouldn't be surprised if grocery stores had stuff knock off.

Update. Watching the news, and a manager from a grocery store in Diamond Bar just called in. He said everything that could have fallen off the shelves, did. So you can imagine, it was a bit of a jolt around that area.

Hope everyone is ok. A lot of people calling in are mostly shook up, luckily no structural damage has been reported yet.

I'm in Anaheim Hills, just a couple miles away from the epicenter. It was scary. phones in the office, and the cell, were out. my secretary ran home to get her anti-anxiety pills.

Cell is working once again, but unfortunately, I have Verizon and barely noticed.

Yeah my buddy works at Cal Poly Pomona, was in the Engineering building on the ground floor, and said it was pretty scary because the building is concrete and about 6 stories high !!!!

Wait, you have Verizon, so you barely noticed that it was out, or working ????

I was just joking that because Verizon's so crappy, I barely noticed that my phone was working again. Actually, Verizon's not bad, I'm just bitter that they've locked me out of the GPS on my own phone (Q9c).

I hope all our EQers in Cali are okay. Cheri, where are you? Is everything good in your neck of the woods?
