Doesn't like the Q9m, so what to get him? - Motorola Q Forum

I have 6 people (myself included) at work that use smartphones with Verizon. 2 have Q's, I have the Q9m, president has a Blackberry World, one has a Treo 700p and the last a Treo 650 (palmos)

The guy with the Treo 650 I just upgraded to a Q9m, he hates it. He's in his upper 50's I guess, very set in his ways, hates computers, etc.

My plan was to get everyone except the president on a Q/Q9m since we're in our upgrade time frame. I really don't like supporting the Treo phones, they suck IMO, but he's going to be hard to switch.

The Treo 700 is old IMO, big, outdated. The 755p is slightly smaller, but it's still a Treo.

Any suggestions on what to get him? It's probably a losing battle I bet to try to get him on the Q9m.

Apparently, the Q9c will be available on Verizon in April. Engadget reported this, and it's in these forums now.

If you can somehow show him a Q9c from Sprint, this phone is much more business-oriented, more grown-up. Looks very similar to Blackberry World Edition with its silver accents, and has stronger performance than 1st Q.

He might like that if you wait a month

I doubt it, though I may get one for myself. 2 of our lines are up for NE2 in April including my own toward the later part of the month.

I guess I need to talk to him to find out what he doesn't like, but I am fairly certain it's just that he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't want to learn something new, even if it might be better. This is the same person that has a laptop that never leaves his office, and he's a sales guy that travels like 50% of the time.

It's possible that once everyone else has one and he sees them at work, he may come around.

That may be, the other 2 that travel a lot with him have Q's right now, maybe I'll get them to help him out, though he had me switch him back to his Treo today and is going to be traveling this week, so grr...

I can't blame the guy though, I don't like the Q9m either. To me it seems like the 9m and the 9c are both knock offs of the 9h, which is truly the "new" phone. The other two are just the Q1 with a shiny casing and WM6.

Why does Verizon phones have to SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

have everybody switch to the Q9c when available. It would be much easier to troubleshoot 1 type of phone + less hassel regarding different software for the different types. Keep it simple...

That's a great idea but won't fly. Lot's of $$$ plus he doesn't like it, and reports directly to the president.

Take a lesson from Microsoft, slowly stop supporting outdated things

or just leave him with what he has untill it breaks, then he will have to pick something else

Sounds fun doesn't it? Doesn't work in the real world though because he would complain to the company president then it comes down on me, I'm way better off getting him something he likes.
