Do i HAVE to have a data plan to activate my Moto W with Verizon? - Motorola Q Forum

I am thinking about buying a Motorola Q of eBay because they are not too expensive. If i buy it, when i recieve it, if i call customer service or go to a VZW store, while activating, Do I HAVE to purchase a data plan? or can i activate th e phone without putrchasing a data plan?
If i have to whats the cheapest i can get one?

You do NOT need a data plan, but you may want one! Verizon's "cheapest" one is currently $29.99. This will not include VZW wireless sync, but most members here don't need that anyway. I use it for my calendar.

just make sure you dont use anything that requires data otherwise you will get billed per KB

so if you block the data you will not be able to send or receive picture messages. and some programs like to use data. I thought about not having data and thought about blocking it. but then what is the use of this phone if you don't have data.

you can still play games and hack the Q if you dont have data

I'd make sure to get a data block. Deciding to surf the web to check sports scores or get a movie time even once without a dataplan would make you wish that you had one...the Verizon world is filled with people who thought "how bad could it be if I just check my email once a day?" who end up with a first monthly bill over $400.
