The pay per kb I don't technically consider a plan because it'll never be listed as a plan under your services. It is a default action taken if you don't have a plan, this is true whether you have a smartphone or just a regular phone (ie. if I decided to use the Openwave browser on my old LG VX8100). The only phones that Verizon offers that require a data plan are Blackberrys. You can have a smartphone without a data plan just as you can have a regular phone without a data plan. My reasoning for this is shown below, as you can see pay per kb is not listed as a 'plan'. In fact, I do not have a data plan at all listed because I don't have a data plan. |
The reason I don't even want to count what is written on your account is because it seems you are missing many of the features from AC that I seem to have listed on mine. call forwarding, 3-Way Calling Call Forward - No Answer, No Answer/Transfer etc. For whatever reason, your account is not listing all of its features. You somehow might be an "exception" in some way, or you had those features removed somehow (not sure why you would want to do that) but everyone signing up currently will have some sort of pda plan.
That aside, we are discussing the current conditions. Currently Verizon will not let you activate a pda phone without at least having the pay as you go plan. Even if you try to an esn switch online to a pda phone, it makes you select a "plan".
I don't want to start a flame war or any of that, but its not semantics, Verizon considers pay as you go a data plan, it is included in all of their books and coumentation that list all available plans. It may be semantics in your eyes, but in the eyes of the corporation, the ones billing it out, it is a viable and real plan.
