 |  Data plan required for e-mail /IM In order to IM and use the e-mail, the phone connects via 3G correct? Also, does any one have experience with the miniSD wifi cards? I heard they work, and am quite interested to test it out; I just need to make sure they work with 802.1x. |

 | yes email and IM will connect to a data connection...whether it be 3G or less

| It can be done. In the hacks forum, find the hack for password before data connection. But instead of setting 'requirepw' to 1, set 'enabled' to 0 It turns off data entirely.

| If you dont mind not taking any calls, just turn the phone off. Mine falls back to the wifi card when the phone is off. If the wifi card is out and you try to use data with the phone radio off it will ask you if you want to turn it on before it uses it. |
