Default Cdma?

I live in New Mexico, and they have a carrier called Cricket, which (in Cali) is the same thing as Metro PCS. They do not requre a SIM card, and because they do claim to be a CDMA network, the Q should work with them right? Well yesterday I dropped off my Q so they could flash it over from the Verizon network, but they returned it today saying that it didn't work...something about haveing Windows on it or something. Does that make sense to anybody?

Most phones sold by any carrier are locked, meaning, you can't provision a number on the phone from another network. Like, you cannot put a Sprint PCS number on a Verizon just like that (I'm not talking about switching your service over from Sprint to Verizon, that's called Number Portability).... the phone will be locked to only those numbers belonging to Verizon.

Not sure if you've seen on eBay, phones being sold as unlocked... that's what it means. Hope that helps.

That does help, but how can you unlock the phone. It would be sad not have the service I had in mind. Is there a program you can get to unlock it or a place you can go?

I realize this is an old thread but, "something about Windows or something?!?" It's a Windows Mobile Smartphone--of course it runs Windows!

Unless Cricket has their own ROM for a Q, they can't flash it. I suppose it's possible to program it, but VZW ESNs are probably restricted to VZW activations.

That's true especially with the Q....except for the Sprint Q that was just released, in the US the rights to the Q were owned by VZW exclusively. Cricket might have their own version releasing later in the year.
