Default Buy a Phone on ebay or no?

I have really been wanting a Motorola Q ever since one of my friends got one. I dont have 500 bucks to spend on a phone or can I get the 2 year discount. I have seen some good ones on ebay and was wondering if anyone knew if that was a do or don't? Also if I do and the phone stops working does anyone know what verizon would do since I didn't buy it directly from them.

1. Make sure seller has above 90% rep points on ebay.
2. If anything goes wrong after you have changed ESN number on your account. Call 611(Customer Service) and they will view your account that you have the Q and fix what is wrong, (either swap out of tech service)
3. Ask for detailed photo's from the seller. And if the sale gets wrecked, like let's say something was wrong with the phone(water damage) and the seller didn't state you can fight for it.

In the past i have gotten phones off ebay with out any problem.

You want the MOL2 update. It makes everything smoother and makes the q a lot faster. Also, it adds a couple of critical features like further bluetooth compatibility.

I too have had good experience with eBay phones. Something you might want to do (assuming you have some liquid money or a credit card) is go to the store and buy a brand new phone, get the insurance on it, wait 72 hours, and return the phone. The insurance stays on your account, that way when you activate your eBay phone, it is insured, so if anything goes wrong w/ it after you initally checked things out, you pay $50 and you get a brand new (refurb).

I'm not sure you could exactly call that insurance fraud... but I wouldn't advertise what your doing to anybody on Verizon/Lockline's end.

Get the ESN # from the seller. Once you get it, call Verizon to confirm that the ESN is not stolen and that you can activate it.

Once activated, add the insurance or you can add the insurance now,if you are with Verizon already and transfer it to the Q once you activate.

For a regular phone I would say yes but with the Q's unordinarily high defect rate I would definitely get one thru the local corporate store so you can exchange as needed. If you are coming from a regular phone you can usualy get the phone discounted for adding on data. From $199-$349.

I tell ya, I jsut switched from a Treo 700W to my Q with Verizon. After a new 2 year contract and rebates, etc...I got mine for $140. You may want to check with them before you dive in anywhere.

As far as getting a phone off of Ebay, My Treo came from Ebay and I had no probelms with it. As one of the posters said, just make sure you check their feedback rating, READ the auction carefully and make sure you can live with their terms. If you're careful, you can get some awesome deals on Ebay! I know I have!
