Default Battery In Your Leg

So before I get started with this I'd like to say two things. First, thank you to everyone who has put time and effort into educating us all on the pros/cons about the Q and helpful tips that come along with it. Secondly, I have done the rounds on the boards. I have look up this topic on different boards and I'm writing this here to see if Verizon users are experiencing the same trials/tribulations as I. Thank you for reading.

The battery life on my mobile is poor to say the least. Before this I had the Samsung a950 and it did the job, even through the night. Now I know this phone offers a lot more but perhaps someone can help with my problem. The battery life give or take is about 4 hours talk time and idle time very little. I charge it until it says charge complete. I turned off beams, bluetooth and I go into task manager and "Kill All" if i'm not using it. Still...I feel battery life could be better. Can anyone reccommend something? Any help is appreciated.

are you using it for e-mail.

If so check your settings, if you have it configured as a pop mail account I know you can change how often it logs in and checks for new messages. I have noticed on my Q the more often it checks for new messages the quicker the battery dies.

Candlelight lets you dim your screen if it is to bright. Works great if your in a meeting or at night. I have noticed that the default screen brightness can be a bit blinding in low light situations.

As for the battery life what applications do you have installed? There have also be alot of posts about users noticing that their Q's not disconnecting from data mode after closing an application. If your Q is constantly transmitting data this will burn the battery down real quick.

There are some programs out there that will let you optimize the Q to conserve battery power also. Search the fourms for battery optimization as I cant recall what the progam was called.

Not sure what other users are expierencing but I get about a day of good use out of my Q, this is simalar to my expierences with the PPC 6600 and the PPC6700 Pocket PC phones as well. 1 solid day of use seems to be the norm for me with every smartphone and Pocket PC phone I have tried. The only exception being my Treo 650.

I was going to buy the extended battery but did not want the extra bulk on my phone so i just carry a regular battery as a spare just in case. I keep it plugged in when ever I can and have no problems.

Edit: There was also a post where a user got a bad charger with his Q. He bought a replacement and it fixed his problem. 4 hours does seem short I am not sure what Verizon's policy is but ACS my provider let me use a loaner battery to test with, maybe you might get a sympathetic service rep.

As for the application i've downloaded its only been Wordpad. I know for sure that data transfer being constantly on: i know its not because i go to KILL ALL programs. is there somthing i'm doing wrong? i will give a go to a rep and ask them if they will be so kind as to replace it. who knows...i will look for conserving battery threads.

The data usage issue is being expierenced by those who also kill their applications. Here is the link to the thread

http://www.everythingq.com/forum/gen...html#post53348

There does not seem to be any answer to it. On user has replaced his Q several times to try and get it fixed.

To check if your transmitting data look in the upper right hand corner of your screen. If you see two arrows pointing to the left and the right it is transmitting data.

Try the search term "Battery Life"

Do you have the latest firmware updates? MOL2 made quite a diffference in my regualr batteries life, I rarely use my extended battery now.

Also your battery tends to die when you are in a low-signal area (windowless basement, etc) and more rf output is required to lock on to a tower for service. I've had my battery run down in 2 hours in situations like this.
