There does not seem to be any answer to it. On user has replaced his Q several times to try and get it fixed.

To check if your transmitting data look in the upper right hand corner of your screen. If you see two arrows pointing to the left and the right it is transmitting data.

Ok so I am definitely getting the two arrows indicating data transfer. That really must be put to a stop. I read the thread too and there really is no answer to it. Can anyone help with that?

I got that link from the motorola q wiki. Is there something else perhaps?

As for the bloke who said that perhaps there isn't a strong signal around here....there is! I live in downtown Los Angeles. Verizon caters to overpopulated disgusting city like ours!

Ok so I just updated to the new MOL3 from the verizon site. Battery life seems to improve I suppose but data transfer signal is still showing. I thought with this new firmware that problem wouldn't happen anymore. Anyone?

Hmmm, my first Black Q would be taken off the charger at 7am and the battery would die about 9pm ... I took it back and exchanged it (the scroll wheel was acting funny) and the replacement Q will make it through the night, and I have mine set up to check my Gmail account every hour.

Ok so I updated with the MOL 3 and it was working perfectly. Lasted me through the night and I have absolutely no problems. If anyone was having the same problem as me I recommend updating. Cheers.

I got my Q last thursday and the first 2 days I couldn't go 8hrs. without charging. I then remember what did this to my ppc-6700. I went to settings>connections>beam and turned off recieve incoming beams. I then went to settings>phone settings>network and put 911 only for the GPS setting. My battery lasted for 3 days after that with a lot of calls/data/and just learning everything about it. I am now very happy I switched from the 6700.

The two arrows only mean that the phone is connected to the Broadband networks. The only time the phone is transmittig data is when the PDA shaped icon appears.

Same here, the difference is amazing. I don't even use candle light anymore with the regular slim battery.

Will upgrading to MOL3 wipe everything clean? (downloaded software, registry hacks, etc.)
