I am on my second Q with the same problem. Replaced this last Q in Aug 07, about 1 month after, I noticed several glitches with the keys. I would hit a number or a letter and it would select random ones instead. Cannot save contacts or send text without random batches of numbers automatically being inserted.
Phone was still functional on most part. so I waited until Jan 7 to return to Verizon. The service lady took of the battery cover and said their was a red dot and my phone was exposed to water! What a bunch of hog wash. They can tell all my phone problems are due to this red dot? They did no other evaluation!
I told the lady I have never been near any liquids or even in the rain with it. She said, "well sir, I do not follow you around everyday to know that." I told her this sounded like a bad excuse that Verizon was giving to their customers and that there was no way to evalute my specific problems due to a red dot sticker.
My only option was to pay for a new phone or cancel my service which was $175.00 per line. Well, as you could guess I left pissed. Called Verizon direct to complain. Man on phone looked up account and read off previous employees notes. Basically said my phone was exposed to moisture and it was not covered. I asked him since I knew that my phone was never wet or in the rain, then what type of moisture are we talking about. He said, that it could be the weather! I was pissed....I told him if I knew you were selling me a MOBILE phone that was sensitive to the weather, then I would of never bought it. I could of stayed home and used my home line.
WTF, I am so pissed. I can't stand corporate rip-offs! I refuse to pay for another defective phone. Also, the lady at Verizon stated that she has never had any one complain about the "Q"...I told her that I would research the internet and if I found that there were similar complaints, I would call them back.
My nephew told me last night that he is on his 5th "Q" do to the same problems. He lives in central NY, and I live in the South. I guess the "Q" is not made for outdoor use.
It is funny how the LCD screen is waterproof on the "Q".. mine still looks brand new! Verizon should be ashamed to scam the customers and should demand Motorola to give credit for our defective phones or replace them with equal value! So until them Verizon....F "Q"!
