Default 1X not changing to EV

I am in Chicago which is a great EV area and my q never switches over to it, always is on 1X. For those of you who don't know, 1X is the network and EV is Broadband which is obviously faster. It should fluctuate between the two but prodominately stay on EV. That's what we all pay for. I've talked with Verizon and they have no idea why. Anyone have any clue? Thanks.

they didnt make you do the 228 option to update tower info??

I'm sure you've rebooted the phone to see it when it loads, it starts EVDO.

So was it the phone? I just got an insurance replacement from Assurion (they suck) and the phone is stuck on 1X and will not go to EV. Troubleshooted with the verizon techs 3 times and they checked the logs and since I got the replacement I've only connected to 1X.

Assurion is giving me a hard time because I don't have another phone to call them on. It's ridiculous. $50 a month for the service, $50 deductible for the new phone, and yet they won't send out a replacement for a defective replacement in the first place. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I got my new phone from assurion and it works great. You have to call from a different line so they can confirm that you tried everything to fix the problem even if you did it with Verizon. Then they should send you a NEW model and not a REFERBISHED one. You prob have a referbished model cuz they are cheap! Maybe you got the one I sent back. lol. Good luck and let me know what happens.

I had a the same problem with a PPC6600 not my Q and they reflashed the firmware on the phone and it fixed it.
