Well, I started this thread, so I might as well chime in here. There is no problem with updating; mine worked just fine. BTW, I haven't messed with my clock settings and they are at Automatic for time and Manual for zone. This would make sense, because you want the time to update automatically, but if you are anywhere close to the border of two time zones, your device could be talking to a server on the other side and getting updated there. Just leave it at the default as shown above and let USCC do their thing!

Exclamation Time/Date problem is flaw in Moto q software

I experienced the same problem on a new Moto q, but all of my users on older Moto q's worked fine. After calling Alltel customer service, they said it was a problem with the software and to return the phone for a replacement. I did this, and had the same problem with the second phone. The problem is with
Q2-BP_C_06.0C.16.P, Q2 Portable - older version has 0C.11P, Q2 Portable works fine. To see your version go to start, settings, more, more, about.

The only workaround is to change the clock and time zone update from automatic to manual. To do this, go to: Settings, more, more, phone settings, clock & time zone - change both from automatic to manual. Changing clock to manual which puts time zone to inactive gives the same result. When the clock & time zone were on automatic, after so many minutes, mine would switch from Eastern time to Central time, no matter how many times I would fix it. (I want it Eastern time.)

Then go to Settings, Clock and Alarm, Date and time, set your time zone, date and time. From here on out, it retains your time zone and correct time, even after turning the phone off and back on. However, if you remove the battery, it keeps the correct time zone (and keeps the updates as manual), but the date goes back to 1/1/2003 and time 12:00 pm. Motorolla needs to have better quality control! I've wasted two full days on this problem! If there's a way to roll back to an older version, that would be great!

Yeah, as I believe I may have mentioned before, my phone has Q2-BP_C_06.0C.05P software version, and I have not experienced any time related issues.

I also haven't had any of the battery life problems that many Q owners describe and I've got 2 accounts being checked for mail on 30 minute intervals. I regularly play music from my 2GB SD card.

You may have to acquire a copy of the older firmware and flash your Q.

I just re-read your post and noticed the word AllTel. You may have different software version numbers than us US Cellular users. However, you did mention having "users" with earlier version images that did not have the problem you experence. You might want to consider flashing your phone, or getting it flashed, to that workable version. An AllTel store that has a service tech should be able to accomplish this. Explain why you are looking to backdate your firmware (yes, yours is a newer version). Remember to back up your data as everything will be lost during a re-flash.
