i can see your frustration but it's no reason to scream is it... and if you mean Active Sync, no it will not work with Vista, you need Windows Mobile Device Center to sync w/ pc.

hey thats part of picking a carrier i think, us cellular is just starting to get big enough to start carrying some cool phones. i used to have us cellular about four years ago and the pickings were even more slim. If it helps you out any there are a lot of us on the forum that are very happy with our old old Q's. also i dont have vista but i know microsoft has always had the latest activesync available for free on thier site. im sure you could get ahold of mobile device center the same way if you dont have it already.

also you can get the new framework for free as well try the search function

I have to ask, did you not know this (that USCC got the original version of the Q, like Sprint and Alltel) when you walked into the US Cellular store and laid down your money? If so, then shame on you! Also, did you buy it outright, or with a commitment? Mine was pretty cheap.

The phone has the latest software released by Motorola for this phone (MOL3 I believe). There currently are no updates, just as there were no updates for the first Verizon Q's for several months after it was initially released.

If you want the latest .NET framework, it's pretty much a "no-brainer" to install it.

I'm guessing that nobody held a gun to your head, forcing you to get this phone, so I am not sure why you are whining (and shouting as well) now.

I have heard nothing of US Cellular getting the newer Q9m, either in the near or even distant future, so this is as good as it's probably going to get for the forseeable future.

Me, I'm having fun with my Q.

Sprint is still selling the original Q. In fact, I thought that even Verizon still has it, although the Q9m is stealing the show at VZW. EV-DO is coming to USCC, have patience. ;-)

I agree, i love my Q as well. The only down side is the battery life, but that can be fixed by buying a better one. At least it did come with two. A guy up at work got a Q from alltel about a month ago and it only came with one battery.

Try this for battery life:

Dial # # * Send really fast. Then >option B >option E >CDMA only. This will keep the device from searching for an EVDO signal and is supposed to improve battery life.

Seemed to help me anyway.

Download Windows Mobile Device Center for Free from MS, and it works with Vista ok. I use it on my laptop all the time. I hate vista, but this is one of the few things that does work.

As for battery life, I'm not sure what you would consider good battery life. I'm always watching video, web surfing, and making calls on it, and I have yet to kill the battery in a day. Even if I do, USCC added a separate charger and battery for me to swap to. I haven't yet had to.

I should also add to the battery life that the only time it's plugged in is when I go to bed at night. I don't use a car charger, and usually only synch at night before going to sleep.
