It would be helpful if you would let us know what type of email account you are trying to set up. Is it google, or some other POP3 account? I assume that in the email settings, you have verified that the account name and password are correct as well as your send/rec email servier names? The most common issue I have seen is caused simple things such as a misspelling of a server name, or even not putting in your full email account name, i.e. "name" vs name@domain.com. If using GMail, you need to enable POP3 on your account settings.

With Yahoo, I dont think you get POP3 support unless you pay extra for it.

I have GMail set up on mine, and as long as you enable POP3 in your Gmail account settings, it works pretty good. If you do that, you can have the Q automatically read in your GMail settings and auto-fill the servier names and such.

I havent/dont have a Hotmail account, but I know others have used it and they got it to work pretty well.

Let us know how you make out after deleting and resetting up your accounts. Like I mentioned earlier, most of the issues I have seen are mostly mistyping of some type, whether user name, password or email settings.

good luck!

Heres the cure for it
go to messaging>select the account you set-up and named>menu>options>account options>(select the account you named)>hit next 3 times.
at this point you should be at the incoming server and outgoing server set up.>
#1 leave the incoming server settings alone.

#2 uncheck "require SSL connection"

#3 outgoing server should be smtp.uscc.net
this setting should be used for any E-mail service provider you are having sending / receiving errors with. I currently have metrocast, that was an issue, there were also problem with comcast, roadrunner and a few others.

#4 uncheck "outgoing server requires authentication"

click next 3 more times and then done. now try to send and receive.... this WILL work ! hope this helps lots !

That fix works for when you can receive but are unable to send emails. If you cannot receive emails, then something else is incorrect.

thats what you would think, but the usc moto Q will not receive the E-mails for some reason when they are not set up to send correctly.
I know it sounds like I have been drinking way too much , but it will not receive the files if it can not cycle completely through the whole process of sending and receiving.

I'll have to try that next time. I have seen plently of times where it can receive but not send, i.e. Midmaine customers, time warner and adelphia customers... they all could receive but always timed out when sending. The smtp.uscc.net solved those issues for sure. But I havent run into any receiving issues.... wierd since the outgoing servier should have nothing to do with receiving... but these days, anyting is possible

To set up hotmail accounts, MSN and Hotmail accounts CANNOT be added through the standard “New Account” option in mail settings. MSN and Hotmail users need to go to Pocket MSN, option 2 (Hotmail) and if a sign in screen appears, start there. If an Inbox appears in the case that one MSN or Hotmail account has already been added, you will need to select “Options” from the PMSN main menu screen, then “Switch accounts(user)” and the Q will return to its home screen. Then re-enter PMSN and select Hotmail… User and Pass screen will start the process.
Only ONE MSN/Hotmail acct can be accessed without signing in/out
