You are correct, the internal GPS is disabled by USCC... However, the hardware of all of the Q9c phones are identical, which means if Verizon and Sprint have GPS capabilities, it is possible to eventually unlock a USCellular Q9c's GPS as well. I am still working on this right now, I'm waiting on some Verizon/Sprint Users to copy and send me their WM6 registry and GPS drivers (which are plainly visible and should be in the /Windows/Drivers folder.)
I bought a Holux M1000 GPS unit, and it works with the USCC Q9c without any hacks or modifications to ports or anything. I can even walk you through using Garmin Mobile XT with any non-Garmin GPS now, if you've already purchased the software........

Having voice turn-by-turn directions is pretty slick, though it doesn't have text to speech, so it says "turn left in 0.2 miles" rather than "turn left on main street". Still, I'm going geocaching tonight, and I wouldn't want any other unit..... with the ability to connect to up to 32 satellites, I'm usually maxed out on satellites no matter where I am. This thing is accurate to within 3 feet with 10 satellites connected...
Right now, I'm sitting in a steel building where I get no cell phone reception, yet the GPS is still connected... Amazing really... quite amazing.
