I have been fighting with my 9c and GPS for about two weeks. It appears to me that USC has loaded a WM6 version that just doesn't include the drivers to make the onboard GPS active. I have tried all kinds of registry hacks on the Intermediate Driver, but it seems to me that is just a program to open a virtual port and talk with the GPS, either onboard or bluetooth. We need to find the drivers for the onboard GPS. I have searched for the drivers, but so far no success. I would purchase a bluetooth GPS receiver and might even do that even if I get the onboard working, but at this point, I just want to make the onboard work out spite towards USC. Ticks me off that they disable a key feature. Let me know if I can help this project in any way.

This is why I've asked for some Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile users to post the drivers and registry entries in the main forum... As of today, no one has replied to that request. I'm to the point where I'm willing to go find a warez version of WM6 and install from scratch, setting up the USCC functionality as I go.... I may break the phone, but it would be a lesson in hacking Moto Qs and WM6. =)

Yeah, I've been lurking and hoping you were going to come up with the drivers. Interesting note, if you go to Microsoft's site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...brand=Motorola

and view the Verizon, USC, and Sprint 9c's, you will see that Microsoft lists the other two as GPS but not the USC. That is what convinced me that Microsoft has disabled the function at USC's request.

I handle a small corporate account with USC. They don't give a hoot about me, but my local sales agent is pretty good. I placed a call to him and he is going to call USC support and see what they are saying "today." It is driving their sales guys nuts to hear that the other providers 9c's are gps compatible, so maybe enough grumbling will shake USC into opening it up, but I doubt it.

In the meantime, we just keep digging for the right files, I guess.

actually it would be the carrier that disables/enables the software after MS gives them the copy

I would tend to agree, but Microsoft is surely in on the deal or they wouldn't list the other 9c's with GPS and list USC's 9c as not having GPS

Under the folder drivers, I have: a default string (value not set). Under the folder multiplexer, I have a folder called ActiveDevice. Inside ActiveDevice, I have another default string (value not set), A Dword called context (data is 305414496), a Dll (String: GPSID.dll), DWord called Flags(data: 2) and a Dword named Keep (data: 1).

Hope it helps!

Not sure if you have seen this, but looks a full sprint download:
