I believe the hardware would work, but you will run into two problems, the first being finding the correct Monster ROM, and the second getting USCC to put it up on their network, because they won't show your Q's HEX or DEC in their database.

Getting it on the network wouldn't be as much of a problem as getting the monster ROM file to make it USC branded. I'm pretty sure they don't use database checking when an ESN is changed, or at least if they are checked, foreign ESN's are not rejected by the system.

no. I was told USC will only activate USC sourced phones.

That is correct, but if you think about it, how are they going to know it's a VZW handset if it has USC software in it? If it's the same color and doesn't have a VZW backplate, then what's the difference. It in essence would be a USC handset, no?

i suppose you could scratch it off but the 'Verizon Logo' on the device might give it away

First, they have a database of ESNs, and the VZW's ESN would not be showing up in it. Next, unless I'm mistaken, the VZW Q never was offfered in the dark gray finish of the USCC Q, but rather, only in silver or black. I'm not certain about the black phones, but on the silver ones, the Verizon logo is located on the front of the phone, right below the keyboard. This would be difficult to conceal, and it is not a user replaceable part.

This doesn't mean it is impossible to get a VZW Q set up on US Cellular, just that it is not likely. You won't be fooling them though!

Default verizon and USC

no , the verizon will not work with usc because they will not put it on there network.
its just as stated, the ESN is registered with the providers .
the software is different too i believe, so receiving pictures messages and text messages will not work all the time.
I work for usc and someone tried to put a verizon phone on the network once and it worked for about 2 weeks then it just stopped working.would not send or receive calls, or do anything

correct, without the phone having actual USC software installed, USC will not activate the phone on thier network. And I believe there are no USC Q monster files available anywhere at this time.
