Close, but no cigar... its possible. But works like crap... USCC and all other providers actually LOSE money on phones, unless sold without a contract, then they break even...
CDMA is FAR from the new thing in phones... the technology has been in place in this country twice as long as the GSM that other providers use.
Verizon uses the same CDMA network as USCC, in fact they have a roaming agreement in most areas together. they use different frequencies, but all CDMA phones will pick up these freqs.
The only part you're correct about is the programming... a Monster ROM is what seperates the phones and tells them who to run home to for data services, emails, txts... etc..etc.. If you could get a monster rom ;) you'd be set.
