Wap encoding error - Motorola Q Forum

I have asked this before, however I am really irritated that I can't figure it out.

When I send a pic through hotmail to a Verizon person, I use the following address:

10digit#@vzwpix.com

It was successful once, after that one time I received the message "could not be delivered to mobile: Wap encoding error"

I sent the same pic to e TMobile phone and no issues. Does anyone have a clue here about this? I know I don't.

weird.... did you or can you send the first one that was successful again or will that one not work anymore either ? are you trying a different format (.gif, .jpg, .bmp, etc.) ? you must have tried a reboot of the phone right ? can you send email using your pc to 10digit#@vzwpix.com ?

if all else fail.... you might have to contact Verizon support.

Its odd that you are getting a WAP error when using hotmail....hmmm, i will do some digging for you on this one.

I appreciate that. I ended up having to get a "new" ( as is refurbished phone) from Sprint this week because of the locking up/shutting down issue I was having with mine. I was still getting the errors so it wasn't the phone. I also did a master reset and still nothing.

However, I did set up my pcs mail yesterday. I sent 2 photos and they went through OK. Then I tried to send another and got the following error from PCS:

SMTP transmission failure has occurrred
Diagnostic code: smtp; 550 SMTP connection refused

I think it may have had something to do with the size of the photo? I am just inserting one from my pictures I took with the phone.

I am going to try to send one through hotmail today and not pcs to see if I get that error. This has been an ongoing thing for since I got the phone in April, and no one can seem to help with it.

Possible, post how your test goes today and we'll see if we can't solve that bugger of an issue.

So I tried to send a pic through hotmail today and got the error message again. GGGRRRRR. I then sent the pic from my PCS mail and it went right through.

The saga continues.

There is a checkbox in the account settings for outgoing mail that says "Use SSL" you should put a checkmark in that box and then try sending a message.

I can't give you the footpath, but I do know something that may help you. When i send pics to my verizon phone I have to send them with special coding. I have to format the email to be UTF-8 coded. You can do this by clicking on format after you open the email.
