I also cannot figure out how to get this phone to act as a modem for my laptop. I have tried first with the Dell supplied Toshiba bluetooth stack, then I uninstalled that and have tried with the XP SP2 bluetooth manager. Still no luck. And I have made sure the COM ports are the same in botht he manager and activesync. My D420 and my Q have no problem seeing each other and pairing, but nothing is getting done.

Any help?
I had the same problem, although I am using a Treo, this web site helped so I'm trying to give back. On the Palm website (which will not give support for BT) they mentioned creating a serial port. I am using a Dell with XP. I went to [My Bluetooth Places] and clicked on [View or modify configuration], click on the [Local Services] tab, then click on [Add serial port]. It created a Bluetooth serial port and assigned COM 10. The Treo immediatly started to sync. Note, I was using COM 4 on the Treo, and My Activesync on XP was also set to COM 4. Good Luck

If you are going to sync on Vista you need to download the WMDC app from microsoft's site. It replaces ActiveSync in XP. I believe BT support is enabled in it. I haven't tried syncing but I have tried modem use on several BT stancs both on XP and Vista with complete success. Only problem Ive had there is the Mac. It seems to time out and DC every few minutes or so. PC's didn't do this.

ok, a little help please. ive got a dell inspiron 6000 running xp with the toshiba bt stack. ive got no problems connecting to the computer to transfer files or browse my qs directory, but i cant set up a com port or use active sync. when i select connect via bt for active sync on my q it sees my pc but just runs through the connecting screen but doesnt actually connect. when i go to my bt devices on my pc it doesnt see anything (including my other bt phones, which its been paired with for file transfer and object push.) one of the tabs is for com ports, but when i try to add one it says the bt radio needs to be plugged in. at this point im pertty lost

Lets not spread misinformation for people searching for info on this.. Im on vista.. and I can sync via BT. Set your Q up to be paired with your PC via BT... and you should also sync your Q to your PC via cable at least once so the connection to your Q is recognized... then in Windows Mobile Device Center click:

Mobile Device Settings--> Connections Settings --> Click the check next to "allow connections to one of the following" ... it may have "bluetooth" chosen... do not use that setting! Instead change it to COM7. Check mark "allow automatic device authentication".

In your Q, Activate Bluetooth, then go to ActiveAync, click Menu, Connect Via Bluetooth.. should have your PC name listed, select it.. shoudl sync.

Default PDANET sabotages my WLAN somehow

Whenever I use my PDAnet, afterwards I cannot get my WLAN to show up on my laptop. Does anyone know what to do? I just can't figure it out. Very frustrating.

Doug

I am able to send a file from my pc to my MotoQ via bluetooth and vice versa. I simply can't get ActiveSync to work.

I have an icon in the bottom part of the Start taskbar. It points to something called "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba." It came with my brand new Dell Latitude D420.

Go to active sync on your Q then select menu then select connect via bluetooth it should then look for your PC. Select your PC and that should do it.
