Default Thinking about buying an unlocked Q9c....

I have been having many issues with my Q and after getting a replacement Q and having the same issue I am thinking it is an issue with my service/plan not the phone. I called/emailed Sprint and they offered me a $100 credit on my account towards a new phone.

My question is, on a serious note as I am a experienced user, would buying an unlocked Q9c be worth it. I lose data connection everytime I plug the phone in to my laptop. It can't be the phone because I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue and it's a new phone and it still has the same issue. I can't get a blackberry because my company doesn't want to spend the $3000 to buy Blackberry server software. Thats understandable. Would it be worth my money, or should I just grit my teeth and bear it. I don't really mind spending the money, but would I benefit from the Q9c?

I know this has been asked before, but I'm a serious user and have many years of experience with these things and can't figure this issue out. Just looking for some...."well if I was in your shoes" stuff.

Thanks guys/gals you all have been much help over the months.

Nathan

If you mean losing the data connection on your phone. In active sync on your PC, open the file menu and select connection settings. There will be an option to allow data calls on the mobile device. Select that and it should fix the problem. But the Q9c is worth it anyway.

I'm using Vista and sync Center. I have played around with all those settings. nothing seems to work.

Ok, that's out of my realm (I won't have a vista PC till May ish). But the 9c is still awesome.

I think this is more a problem with vista. When you sync up it tries to use the computer's internet connection for the phone to connect to the internet.

yup. but I'm not aware that people are having this issue on WM6 devices. I could be wrong though. But I'm still getting the q9c next friday. Woohoo!

I use Vista with my Q9c and never had any issues with my Q9c losing its data connection. I just tested it after reading your post and it seems to work fine.

ummm, not sure what you mean by an unlocked sprint phone...there's no such animal...if you're buying a q9 from another provider and wanting to use it on sprint's network becuz it is unlocked, save your money, it wont work...

what do you mean you lose data connection every time you plug it in?
you need to be a little more specific....what exactly is happening?

have you gone into Settings>Connections>USB to PC and unchecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" box. That one will kill your PC's WiFi connection if it is checked.

And you should know there is no such thing as an unlocked Sprint phone and your company does not need a Blackberry Server for you to us a Blackberry device and get your email - the data plan costs way too much, but you do not necessarily need BIS. You think all those HS kids with Pearls and Curves have BIS sitting in their closets at home?
