And the craziest thing of all is; Microsoft is providing all the carriers/manufactures WM6 upgrades from WM5 for free. (per MS latest press release)

So if they really are money grubbing whores; they could configure WM6 out for the Treo, Q, etc. and then charge us $____ for the upgrade...

Or of course go the friendly route and just hook us up with an update.

Do you think it would make a diff. if the terms of contact were product requests from current owners rather than informational .

It's very interesting to see everyones perspective on Sprints customer service. I am a Sprint rep at a corporate retail store and hear customers complaints about CS every day. A lot of times the people at the store know more. The funny thing is you have to go through loops and holes to get a good customer service rep over the phone. The ones that do know are the ones that are interested. Obviously I am interested in phones and new techonology and the latest. I am the Q guru at my store now. Anytime a customer has a question they send them to me. Where do I get all of this great knowledge, here! And messing with the phone ofcourse. Bottom line, customers appreciate it. They come see me everyday trying to figure it out and I even send them here for everything.

I guess you just have to get lucky. I used to have an M1 and asked the Advanced Techs if they were going to come out with a fix for the Mac so that we can modify the hard drive in it, he said..... "Uhhhhhh, i dont know" and stayed quiet. I was pissed seeing as how I worked for Sprint.

BOTTOM LINE I FEEL YOU GUYS!!!!

I'm not going to get into details on how I know this, but it's 100% for sure that we will NOT be getting WM6.

I've seen on the internal Sprint tech forums that they tested WM6 on the Q, and have decided not to release it (didn't say why), but did say that WM6 will be availabile on the next Moto PDA that Sprint releases (Q9?).

So that's it. Over. Done. Give up.

Just because people at Sprint are saying that's the case on their tech forums doesn't mean much. See the post above yours. Most reps & techs at Sprint don't seem to know what the heck their talking about most of the time. lol

Just because you read it, or heard it right from a source at Sprint doesn't mean with finality that "So that's it. Over. Done. Give up."

Like I said, I can't give more details, but Sprint has tested WM6, and will NOT be releasing it for the Q. It was tested for over a month, and was "announced officially" that it will not be coming released. You'll hear more about this in the upcoming weeks, but it's a final. Trust me.

If that is true, that will kill my efforts to get one, and I'll stick with the 700p. If that is true, I'd imagine you'd be done seeing updates for it, especially if Verizon gives out the upgrade. I don't think they'd do two separate updates, one based on wm5 and one based on wm6. If they're moving forward to wm6, then that's where their future efforts will lie.

Im not saying your wrong, but i spent three hours today with a friend who works for sprint internally. Why did i drive 6 hours to spend 3 hours with him? Simple, his Q is running WM6 perfectly. It's one of sprints test phones, and he had a upgrade file for the Q but refused to let me do it.

I wont be suprised if the update is not made available, as they want to sell new phones, but it is possible and clearly works.
