T-Mobile USA today announced and confirmed that T-Mobile Dash customers will be the first in the U.S. to download and experience the benefits of the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 software. Starting tomorrow, May 4, T-Mobile Dash customers can upgrade from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 6 via a free desktop download available directly from T-Mobile (you remember - the previously leaked one).
Designed by HTC and available exclusively from T-Mobile, the T-Mobile Dash is the first device in the U.S. to be powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6, offering faster access to contacts; the ability to view and edit Microsoft Office documents; even richer Web, E-Mail and messaging experiences; and access to Microsoft Windows Live for Windows Mobile - a set of Windows Live services - uniquely designed to work with Windows Mobile-powered devices, such as the T-Mobile Dash.

Your pissed about something that has nothing to do with Sprint? I mean would you feel better if T-mobile etc. decided not to update their current handsets? I don't get it...

Default Attention Programmers?

okay, i'm not sure if i can, but if i can get ahold of T-mobile's Dash-version of WM6, do we have anyone reading who knows what it would take to make it Q-ready? What about CDMA-ish?

Can you TELL I'm a Sprint subscriber with a Q that REALLY wants WM6?

Chalk me up on this boat. I just got my Q from Sprint 3 days ago and I'm already hungry for WinMo6. I don't know if it was already discussed in this rather long thread, but what would the logistics be for something like this? Would Sprint have to pay Microsoft the license fees for the upgrades, or would it be Motorola? I guess Motorola wouldn't care since they already made money off the phone. Sprint as well since they have you locked in, but to build goodwill, perhaps it would be nice to do what T-Mo and HTC is doing.

It has definitely been addressed in this and other threads, but the long and short of it is this: Microsoft is GIVING AWAY (yes, for free) Windows Mobile 6 licenses to cellular providers. It is now up to those providers to make it ready for their networks.

I have one more calling for programmers out there: can't we figure out what makes OTHER Sprint phones send proper PictureMail, then see how the Q does it on Verizon's network, then somehow adapt that feature into the Sprint Q? It's GOT to be possible guys...

Anybody out there?

That may be the only hope. Sprint is coming out with a new Q in december 2007 that will run WM6.

Who cares about WM6? Install the Office suite from WM6, along with the Windows Live app (not Live Search), and top it off with a nice WM6 theme and startup/shutdown screens....what else are we really missing?

faster and more efficient operating system that should be more compatible with 3rd party software that's been buggy with wm5. Remember, this is an upgrade to the current OS. It's not like going from XP to Vista. calling it wm6 is just marketing so they can sell all new products touted as wm6 products and everyone can make more money while we get poorer or just suffer from envy.

Wait a minute...a Microsoft product that is "faster and more effcient" than the last version? HAHA How gullible do you think I am?
