BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THAT B/C SPRINT MAY EXT YOUR REBATE STATUS FOR SWITCHING HANDSETS

Not to barge in the conversation but if you have been a member with Sprint for awhile you can call a specific phone number and complain that Verizon is offering the Q for $99 and they might be able to give it to you for that price. I got mine for $99 no mail in rebates and had it in my hands 2 days later. If you want more information please let me know, but for now I do not want to put everything out there if I am not suppose to.

I've had a Sprint account since the end of June '06. Not a year yet.

OK careful here. The Q deal on eBay requires a NEW LINE OF SERVICE that can not be closed for at least 6 months and then you will have to pay the $200 ETF. Or all of the rebates you got to get the phone down to .99 will be charged back to your account. Now you can easily buy a new or used Q that has a "clean" ESN and activate it on your existing line. All you do is call Sprint and do an ESN swap. It takes about 10 minutes.

Also - "unlocked" is meaningless on CMDA = VZW & Sprint. That only applies to GSM (ATT & T-Mobile). You can ONLY activate a Verizon phone on Verizon and a Sprint phone on Sprint. They track their respective ESN numbers and will not activate any other CMDA phone than their own.

I would'nt buy a Q from ebay as there is a good chance you will have to exchange it and u wan't to be able to switch it out easily in case of malfunctions.

As long as you don't terminate the contract that you signed when you got the rebates for the phone you no longer want - you won't have to pay anything for switching the phones out. If you call *2 and say you want to terminate your contract, you will get transferred to the retentions department. You will then probably be able to get a Q for $99 without having to mess with rebates and without having to extend your contract. I did it. I called and told them I was terminating and switching to Cingular. I'd had the previous phone less than a year, but it got wet and wasn't working. So I told them I was going to have to pay for a new phone anyway, so I'd rather pay the termination fee and switch over to Cingular and get a free phone. They offered to give me a phone at the "after rebate" price without having to mess with rebates if I stayed. I did not have to renew my contract like you do when you get an upgrade rebate. If you do that, I would write down exactly what you were told and the name and ID of the person you spoke to. When you get the bill, all of the charges and credits are confusing. I had to call back to make sure I was getting what I was told. You have to talk to the retentions department again. Customer Service can't offer what retentions can. You sound more credible if you know exactly who you talked to and what you were told.

Why would you pay $380 for an unlocked Q from eBay?

Couldn't you just buy a Q (from Verizon or Sprint) for $99 and then just pay the $200 ETF and save $100?

You're right, and why would you want one. Sprint has the most affordable data plan out there and Cingular & T-Mobile stink.
