| Sprint Q Bug List... I wanted to start a thread that lists specific bugs with the Sprint Q. I came over from a PPC-6700 to a Q earlier this week. Overall, I love the Q and have not missed the bulky 6700 at all, however, there are some nuances with the Q I hope Sprint will address very soon. So far those include: - Sometimes when placing a call, the phone freezes and you cannot hang up the call. The device isn't locked up (you can still access menus, home screen, etc) but the phone will not disconnect under any circumstance. As an added frustration, the call never connects. The only solution I've found is restarting the device. Sometimes this requires pulling the battery (if the power button doesn't work).
- Installing larger programs to the miniSD doesn't always complete; device hangs. I tried installing large programs (i.e. On Demand) to the card and the progress bars freeze after about 1/4 way. It never installs, the device locks up, and the only solution is to pull the battery (device will not restart by holding the power button).
- Changing networks from Sprint/Automatic/Roaming only doesn't always 'stick.' I've had to try several times to actually get the device to stay in roaming only. FWIW, this was also an issue on my PPC-6700, so it may be a bug with WM5/Smartphone software.
- If you allow the screen to dim while installing programs, you may find yourself with a locked up device. This has happened to me several times. When you try to wake the device by pressing a key, the only thing that happens is the keypad illuminates. The screen doesn't light up, and the device is completely locked up. Pulling the battery is the only solution.
- Phone calls do not interrupt an active EVDO data session. After caller hears multiple rings, call goes to voicemail. Device never rings. I realize there is a field test setting you can change to allow the call to interrupt EVDO data, but the average user will never know this. Besides, it doesn't stick after a soft reset. One of the main benefits of EVDO is the ability for a call to interrupt a data session. There was a similar issue with certain PPC-6700's, and Sprint finally addressed it with a software fix. Let's hope they offer a fix for our Q's very soon.
This is about all I've experienced thus far. If anyone has additional bugs (not "the battery life is useless") please post in this thread. |

| My EVDO is super slow ..
Slower than regular vision .
I cannot download zip files and get an error that it could not be viewed on this device ..
My phone has also did not end when i press end and sometimes doesnt connect ..
But with the EVDO ring through last night I tested and after 4-5 rings it went through and I answered ..
Why did we have to get the first buggy Qs? =P

| Q Bugs So far, I have not come out with problems with my Q. Absolutely love the machine and from the posts I read @ other sites regarding the Verizon model, none of the bugs came with mine. Or I just have not found them. The only thing that kinda troubles me is it stays EVDO even if I am not using the function. I found a fix, which is going to PCS Vision and Disable it. The other thing that's a little bit weird though, the phone display lights up during inactive period, like every 5 minutes or so. I don't know if there's a setting this or not, but it creeps me out still.
All in all, excellent smartphone !!

| Bugs? Here's my biggest pet peeve, and really the ONLY thing about my new Q I don't like. If you type quickly, as I do after 4 different Treo's, the dang thing skips letters. EXTREMELY annoying. Hope there's a firmware fix soon, because its making an otherwise wonderful device unpleasant. |

| I don't know if its the software or my GPS, but I cannont get my bluetooth GPS to talk to the phone after the initial pairing. It pairs just fine, but then when I try to get a software program to use the GPS, nothing. Windows Live, Virtual Earth, and a couple of GPS utilities will not connect. Even after doing the registry hack. Nothing. Virtual earth and Windows live get the closest, as they open Com1, I get a "waiting" type of signal, but it times out. lLl the time the bluetooth activity light on my GPS is out....so I know they aren't talking. Its like there is some sort of driver isssue or soemthing... |

| I agree, the multipress timeout making you skip letters is annoying. Fortunately there is a very easy way to fix this. Go to Start\Settings\Accessibility and turn the Multipress timeout to No Auto Advance.. Works grat for me after changing that.
I use Mapopolis with my BT GPS, and it works great. I have the com setting to auto-detect, and it connects fine. I think it must be tha aplications you're using. The first time I ran the software I got a message saying a proram was trying to acces a com port, and chose my GPS receiver. It then asked if I wanted to always use this device, and I said yes. Works every time now automatically. |

| Having problems with Sprint Q I am on my second Sprint Motorola Q. The first one locked up every second or third time I made a call, and I had to remove the battery to restart it and get it to work. My second one does this only every fifth time or so, so is still largely unusable as a phone (having to constantly remove the battery, etc). I would like to get it to work and not have to send it back also.
Does anyone have a sprint Q that works, or is there a firmware or software upgrade, etc that might make them work? If not may have to go back to 6700 (don't want to ) or even Treo.

MJC | I have had my about 2 weeks now, it and haven't had it lock up once yet. I have tried just about everything it can do, and no problems. I finally go the GPS working (had to uninstall every GPS app, then reinstalled and it worked). I have used it as a modem with my laptop via a Bluetooth activesync connection, made phone calls, sent photos via email, pushed bluetooth objects, had multiple bluetooth connections all at once (played an MP3 to my BT stereo headphones, while the BT GPS was connected). I have my slingbox software on there, as well as some other stuff....all works great. Not a single issue.
I ordered my Q straight from Sprint and not from a store. |

Thanks for your reply, it gives me hope that I might get a working Q with Sprint. I also have received both of my defective Q's straight from Sprint and not from a store.

All in all, excellent smartphone !! | Mine lights up as well during inactive periods. I believe its due to the phone "looking" for service. My battery dies very fast when the phone starts doing this.
