Odd, that didn't resolve the problem. I think it lies more with the server than with my Moto Q. My EQ mail server works great. It's the ET mail server that sometimes gets flaky.

After three weeks of dealing with non-stop problems:

1. Intermitent POP3 mail and internet service that requires a hard reboot (even removing the battery) each time.

2. At least six incidents of calls freezing which also requires a hard reboot each time.

3. Finally, four incidents and counting of a fully-charged battery all of a sudden becomes empty, then completely shutting itself off right after the battery was fully-charged.

I give up! I conclude that SPRINT'S MOTOROLA Q TRULLY SUCKS! I have also made a decision to return the whole unit back to the store tomorrow for a full refund.

Goodbye Q fans. Grrrrrrr!

I called Sprint today to try a simple hardware exchange. What a complete nightmare. I will spare you all the dramatic details, but let's just say after the non-english speaking "tech" spent 20 minutes trying to find the reset button is his manual (hint: there isn't one, he didn't listen to me) I flat out insisted to be transferred to someone who could actually help me. After being transferred to Nextel reps 3 times (and a few other random transferrs sprinked in-between), I finally got someone who could help me. They are sending out a replacement kit. That's great and all but I only paid $99 for the Q through retentions. As he explained it, I now have to pay $449 for the Q (through my account) and they will use that credit once they receive my faulty Q. My monthly bills going forward will deduct from the $449 credit. Solution? Yes. I did get a replacement after an hour on the phone. Good solution? No way. Now I have to essentially "pre-pay" for $449 of service. Very annoying. Nice tactic to get my money ahead of time.

/rant off.

I sure hope this Q is better. I've missed countless calls b/c of freezing, and had many embarrassing moments while in front of clients (it's always great to remove your battery while trying to schedule an appointment with clients).

Good thing this phone is thin. For some reason, that's the only reason I'm tolerating this madness. The wx is unappealing to me b/c I don't like how Palm monkies with the WM5 software. I've had Palm based Treos in the past, and am tired of the form factor.

So, here's to hoping my replacement Q works out. I know there isn't any difference in hardware, but others have reported success with replacements, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I suggest Sprint/Moto/whomever get a software update out for the Q STAT before the return rate goes through the roof. The faults with the Sprint Q are totally unacceptable for a business class device.

Default Second Q

I am also on my second Q, i love it but its having some issues. My first problem was that the media player stopped playing sound not sure why, ring tones work and all other sound works but media player didn't even tried the mute button. I'm actually just had the problem repeat it self today with the new one. All i can seem to do to fix it i the master reset hich really sucks cause then i loose all of my info in the phone. The original Q i purchased had a blue tooth error. It failed to load bluet tooth stack 0x1, couldn't figure it out so i sent it back. If anyone has a clue what the whole media player thing is please let me know.

To fix your sound issue. Go to WMP, then press and hold the scroll wheel. You willl then see a speaker/volume option come up. Just turn the sound up. I can't believe you got a new Q for that problem. lol

Default Not that simple!!!!

Thanks for you attempt to help but that was not the problem either, I tried that. It actually would quit working after listening to it. I stopped it to go do something else then came back and it didn’t work. At that point I hadn’t changed the volume setting from previously playing music, maybe it from leaving it paused insted of stopping it. Plus I didn't send it back in for that reason, I just reset it to fix that problem. If you read my post thoroughly I sent it back for a Bluetooth stack issue. The Q wouldn't load blue tooth stack 0x1. Sprint is using there own stack vs. the Microsoft one so I think that’s where the issue lied. And with the sound thing if anyone else has had this problem or another solution let me know. I'm pretty sure I’ve tried all the simple things, but who knows if it happens again I’m going to be pissed because I hate having to reset it. One agina thanks for your not so graceful attemp to help inf3st.

System Tools or Repair Media Player Issue

I to have had a issue with the Windows Media Player built into my Sprint Motorola Q. For some reason, the media player no longer lists the music files on my Mini-Sd. The songs stored on there still work as ringers, just can't get media player to work. Any suggestions?

Also, when you do a master reset you lose all programs correct? That would be a royal pain if I lost my mNotes synchronization tool (Which works great).

addressing specifically the first bullet hanging at 'dialing' is a known issue with no work around. of course, you can still access the other menus, which doesn't help when you just want to make a phone call, so pullling the battery is the only solution. standard response from sprint is sprint/moto looking into the problem.

whether it makes a difference to the current bugs, the q is scheduled for a software upgrade in march.

  • Sometimes when placing a call, the phone freezes and you cannot hang up the call. The device isn't locked up (you can still access menus, home screen, etc) but the phone will not disconnect under any circumstance. As an added frustration, the call never connects. The only solution I've found is restarting the device. Sometimes this requires pulling the battery (if the power button doesn't work).
  • Installing larger programs to the miniSD doesn't always complete; device hangs. I tried installing large programs (i.e. On Demand) to the card and the progress bars freeze after about 1/4 way. It never installs, the device locks up, and the only solution is to pull the battery (device will not restart by holding the power button).
  • Changing networks from Sprint/Automatic/Roaming only doesn't always 'stick.' I've had to try several times to actually get the device to stay in roaming only. FWIW, this was also an issue on my PPC-6700, so it may be a bug with WM5/Smartphone software.
  • If you allow the screen to dim while installing programs, you may find yourself with a locked up device. This has happened to me several times. When you try to wake the device by pressing a key, the only thing that happens is the keypad illuminates. The screen doesn't light up, and the device is completely locked up. Pulling the battery is the only solution.
  • Phone calls do not interrupt an active EVDO data session. After caller hears multiple rings, call goes to voicemail. Device never rings. I realize there is a field test setting you can change to allow the call to interrupt EVDO data, but the average user will never know this. Besides, it doesn't stick after a soft reset. One of the main benefits of EVDO is the ability for a call to interrupt a data session. There was a similar issue with certain PPC-6700's, and Sprint finally addressed it with a software fix. Let's hope they offer a fix for our Q's very soon.
This is about all I've experienced thus far. If anyone has additional bugs (not "the battery life is useless") please post in this thread.

Have you tried pressing the menu button then scrolling to library, press over and it will give you the option to select the device or storage card this should load up the music on your mini SD. i hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I did try that, as that is how the library is refreshed and updated.

I did however figure out the solution. I had reorganized the files into folders on the card. After starting from scratch and starting a sync profile using my desktop Windows Media Player, the card then became viewable within the library options on the Q and it works fine.

Note to self, don't try and organze them yourself, let the utility do it
