1000% agreed. Windows on a SPCS platform is unstable & doesn't work.

Default why picture mail doesn't work at sprint using smartphones

The gist is this:

Smartphones are configured NOT to use Sprint's handset gateway since the browsers on these phones are more intelligent than normal phone browsers and go straight to net.

The Sprint Gateway, from what I understand, injects subscriber information into the original picture mail packet header that later gets routed to their 3rd party vendor (lightsurf) for picture mail. I'm guessing that lightsurf will only accept packets from the Gateway at sprint and not directly from the handset be it from IP and/or packet header inspection.

later,

k

This may be overkill and you may have already recieved this list but here is a link to a site with all of the address info.

http://www.notepage.net/smtp.htm

Technically this is called the SMS SMTP address. Some carriers have multiples. usually the messaging. one works best. I have.

Hope this helps.

Lightbulb

How about using Outlook to recieve your picture mail. That would take you right into your account and you should be able to send that way.

To tell you guys honestly, I'm sick and tired of using subterfuge to get my picturemail to work on Sprints smartphones. Check it, when you use email and the carrier picturemail address ,or whatever the hell we use to get pictures out, tthe person receives the picture and it comes up as an unknown caller or sender. Therefore a normal mortal of normal interlect will delete it. Its like receiving an email from some1 you don't know, you delete it cauase you might think its a virus infested message. Then the person doesn't think they receive what we worked so hard to send them. I wanna switch services just because of this quirk, but I can't. Sprint's prices are to good to give up. I've been with Sprint for 7 years now and as soon as I switched from my treo 650 I started having problems. What I'm really pissed about is that none of the sites that review these phones, that I always read before purchasing a smartphone make no mention of this quirk. And they don't even tell you at the store if you go buy it there either. I digress though, can't beat the price, but I'm beginning to ask myself is it really worth it?

So, if they diabled the feature because of whatever reason, shouldn't there be a hack out there to enable it again. I kow there must be a way to override their programing to allow this. I wish I knew someone close to me that had a versizon phone, so that I could tinker and compare software and etc.

Default What I really don't understand...

I can't send it, but I can receive it! Does anyone know why that is? My sister sends MMS to me via Cingualr/ATT (or whom ever they choose to be today), but I have to send via email?

Guess it depends on who you are reading for reviews. I was looking at the Q for my wife and I know that, when reading the reviews by members of other forums, it had specifically been asked and answered about the support for PictureMail. Perhaps to some of the reviewers, that were given a preview of the phone, it is not crucial functionality. Why it isnt supported is a question in itself.

Its not disabled, and its not a WM5 issue. Its in the way sprint handles their MMS/Accounts/etc. It's all integrated into the PV portal, and for whatever reason they didnt implement it into the smart phones.

Its not blocked, its just not available.

Once again this is only related to WM though. I have a 700P, which by definition is a "smart phone", and PictureMail is supported by default. What you said may be true, but seems to be only related to Windows smart phones.
