sprint outgoing mail server?? - Motorola Q Forum

I was reading up and saw that some verizon people that were having trouble with the deleted e-mails not being deleted off the actual account when doing it from their Q, and also the trouble of sending e-mails period were solved with using verizons outgoing smtp server.
I was wondering if anyone knew of sprints outgoing smtp server or of one that will work on the Q??? I can not use my school's outgoing smtp server and at home I get around this by using my internet providers outgoing smtp server on my personal computer for my e-mail client.

Your not really specifying what you want to know. For my email I use Sprints server. And there is an option to delete the email on the server when you delete the message on the phone, I think. But I'm not really sure. Did you need the address of the server or something, or did I already answer your question? Also, I had Sprint as my outgoing server for all my smart phones for the last 3 years.

This is what you do. I had the same problem.

1. Incomming server is your ISP's server
2. Outgoing server is smtp.sprintpcs.com
3. Check off the box "outgoing server requires authentication"
3. Then go to outgoing server settings
4. Check off "Use different user name for outgoing server"
5. Input sprint powervision user name. This is NOT your sprint web login.
You can get this by logging into your account at sprint.com. Goto
Account Management. then My personal Information. Then click on
modify next to powervision username.
6. Enter powervision password. You can get this in the same place online
below the username. The default is usual "sprint".
7. thats it

Thanks a lot for that lil tutorial. I ended up changing my username and pass so I guess I'll know in a couple hours after the change goes through if it ends up working.

not working for me either..

**update**

So I called Sprint.. "good luck with that" ;-) anyway.. apparently there was still an old account associated with my number.. and even though the rep said she reset the username and password, i still had to reset teh password on the sprint website before it would work..

My Online Tools
PCS Mail
Settings and Preferences..

Also for the issue with deleting emails on the phone not deleting them on your actual account/server you can usually get around that by on your phone going to folders in your e-mail. then press the left "softkey" and select manage folders. that will bring you to a list of all your sync'd folders. click the left key again and select show all folders and usually your actuall deleted folder on your personal server will show up. select to sync that one, and then to delete e-mails just highlight them and select Move and move them to the delete folder you just sync'd.
