I googled "mp3 cutters", and downloaded a free app to trim my mp3s to a desirable length. Typically 27 to 30 secs work the best, which is about how long the phone rings for. I'd never pay for ringtones.

When I go to settings, sound, and try to choose my downloads... the original defaults are the only ones that come up.

where did you put them ? they should be in \Application Data\Sounds

Download wavepad to make the song shoter and in wave format. then explorer the phone in active sync then my device then app files then paste the song in sounds and it will work.
