Default problem sending email with sprint

I just got my moto q a couple of weeks ago. GREAT PHONE by the way. I have been having problems sending email with my sprint account, i can receive email fine. I fixed this problem by simply checking the outgoing mail requires authentication box and thats it... let me know if this helps anybody else.

also, a lot of you have gmail and yahoo accounts you use through outlook on the q. on all these accounts the outgoing mail server should be smtp.sprintpcs.com and (of course) check the server requires authentication box.

and again let me know if i helped anybody

i'm not Sprint, but have a comment -no offensse- shouldn't the topic be something like "Solution sending email w/ Sprint" plus i believe a lot of folks use the Gmail instructions and that works also.

man im not word about thread names or anything like that. if you are having a problem with the issue i posted then fine or if you got something to add then thats cool too, but talking about the title of a thread just isnt important. and more importantly, its not going to help anybody

it is important becuase it can miss lead someone. if you have the solution to the problem that someone else is having and you dont label it right then they wont view your thread and ask a question that you have already answered...

...but what do i know

i see what you mean, but i think when people do a search, they might put in "problem sending email through sprint" or something like that and the thread will pop up. it doesnt matter, im just putting the information out there, it might help somebody you know...

no it is not, but read your initial reply, i don't think that is a "civil" response on a forum you just joined.

well i dont think its civil of you, being a moderator, to come into this thread not talking about the topic at hand. i created this thread to give some info that helped me. i seen on the boards that i am not the only one who had this issue. If im not mistaking, the only advice you was able to give on this issue is someone to sign up with gmail. I might be mistaking though...

all in all, im just trying to give info and not being disrespectful or vulger so please dont post to me unless you can stay on topic

The title of the threads is extremely important for a variety of reasons:
  1. It helps members who are searching for a particular topic.
  2. Those members might not be members of EQ just yet and will be using search engines like Google. Having related thread titles to topic will increase the readership and ultimately the knowledge base here at EQ.
  3. Members who frequent the forums daily read the titles before entering a thread. A well described title allows them to easily decide if they want to enter a discussion.
That in mind, the moderators attempted to help with your issue and just offered up some helpful advice as to ways to improve readership and responses to your thread. "No disrespect" means just that.

I'd ask that you respect the rules and more importantly the two gentlemen who moderate this forum. Between them, they have thousands of posts and have helped countless Q users. If a moderator or administrator makes a suggestion, than the correct response is not to tell them "please dont post to me unless you can stay on topic". Subject titles are an unwritten rule (although written at our sister forum at Everything iPhone). That's on topic no matter where it's mentioned.

All that in mind, let's move on from this and I think you'll find this site to be a friendly and knowledgeable place.

-Chris
