I'm updating right now via Vista. I haven't seen any notation on what improvements, fixes this offers. Will let you know if I come across any issues.

-Chris

p.s. - my Sprint Q isn't activated now, so I'm limited to testing capabilities

I'm updated. Took 15 minutes or so. No problems that I can report.

Did it require a hard reset/wipe everything out?

Edit: Never mind. I went to the Moto site and saw that it would wipe all third-party stuff out, as expected.

not only 3rd party...but contacts, calendar, hacks, favorites etc....basically wiping the phone clean like it just came out of the box!

The Motorola user guides states:
Quote:
Motorola Software Update will largely return your Q settings to “new” condition. Personal information
like contacts, calendar, etc., will be backed up and restored; however, Motorola Software Update
cannot back up and restore third-party applications and other Copyright ed material. You will need to
reload third-party applications after updating your Q software, reset ringtones, and re-establish other
personal settings including any personal e-mail accounts.

The update process will remove any purchased content that resides solely on your Q, including downloaded ringtones, games or wallpaper. Please use ActiveSync (Windows 2000/XP users) or
Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista users) to back up this content prior to updating your
Q. Data stored in removable miniSD™ cards will be left untouched during the Motorola Software
Update.
Looks like they claim your personal data is safe, but still, back it up.

As per:
A) What do you mean it is finally fixed? You can receive calls and data simultaneously without a hack?
B) Mine has always done this on certain letters like e.

Thanks! Please let us know.

Default mol3 improvement

i noticed that in 'phone settings' there is an option for time zone and clock updates. you can choose 'auto' or 'manual'. I don't remember seeing that b4.

im quite the beginner at this moto q, so im asking: how do you download the MOL3 software? i downloaded it onto my computer and then transfered it onto my phone to open but it told me 'Motorola_Software_Update' is not a valid Windows CE application.
