Try the update tool w/o putting phone in boot loader mode.
why not? this was the only way i could get mine to upload, otherwise it would just stick at 0% and eventually fail. i tried a master reset as well as choosing to not back up my personal information and it still failed until it was put in bootloader mode

I had the same problem but I resolved by unchecking the "enable advanced network functionality" under USB to PC settings.

its not good to do it because it can really F* up your device. In your case boot loader worked. My advise is, try the normal method first if it doesn't work - ask around on the forum and then do bootloader.

and of course you shouldn't have to put it in flash mode. Thats how it should work. But it didn't for you

example.. Lets say if firewall was blocking MSU.. even if you put ur device in bootloader mode it won't update and might brick your phone.

Hey guys, applied the update successfully 'cept for one issue:
when I hit send/receive it never actually sends/receives. It just says finished without checking anything.

I even went to pocket msn to try to switch users so I can start from scratch but the button to switch is shaded out/grayed.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: never mind, fixed it on my own. All I did was sign on MSN, then the switch user button was accessible.

Camera or Multimedia Same as before...

Just as somebody said in one of the initial posts... if it ain't broke... I'm still monitoring this thread... perhaps I'll have the time this weekend to do this reload all of my hax 'n apps, but I can really use some frag time in GRAW this weekend too! ;)

Thanks for the discussion all - we'll see if/when I roll with this one.

My battery life was down considerably after the update. However I have done the 'battery exercise' and it seems to be back now. (Discharge fully, charge overnight). I plan to do this a few more times in hopes that it gets even better. For reference: I do real time sync with exchange and very little talking. Before the update I would show about 2 bars when I went home at 5. After the update, 1 or no bars. Now I'm back to 2.

Default update went smoothly

i just did the update and it worked fine. i'm on vista enterprise 32bit with a sprint q.

i didn't have the software save my data during the update process because i had already backed everything up. i was already in the habit of storing most stuff on my card anyways, so there wasn't much involved in backing up the local memory. i didn't have to worry about saving contacts or calendar because i'm on exchange server through work so it all just came back when i set it back up.

two things i lost that i forgot to back up: ie favorites and text messages. i didn't care about saving the text messages. but it would be nice to restore my favorites. there was one favorite that made it - the one i had saved to the "mobile favorites" folder that syncs through activesync. i thought i remembered seeing my favorites listed somewhere in the registry at some point so now i'm going to check my reg backup to see if they're there.

it hasn't been long enough to know if battery life is better, but the system definitely responds faster. restarts are faster too. one addition that i hadn't heard about in scanning the forums that i was very happy to see was the display of the corresponding letters for the numbers on a standard phone when you're dialing. this is a very small thing that i really appreciated being added. there were a number of times i had a number to dial (like 1-800-4my-xbox) that i had to check a regular phone to figure out the numbers for.

one more small fix i've noticed is that ie is now recognizing the order setting in url entries in favorites. you can set "order=" within a .url file in the windows/favorites folder and ie will use that as the sort order in the favorites menu. i had tried this before and it didn't work but now i've got google as my top favorite, instead of the sprint powerdeck.

Master Reset does not work on this phone unless I do it by holding down the center key when I turn it on. Then it actually worked and cleared out the phone. But I still cannot update the phone even after doing the Master Reset.
