I was shopping near a local Sprint store earlier this week so I stopped in and had them install the new update for me.

I have seen some people say that their battery life has gotten better but mine seems to have gotten worse...as anybody else had an issue with the battery actually getting worse?

Exclamation Updated Sprint Q software problem loading 3rd party software

I recently updated my Q software through the Sprint Site. I tried to reload CT Alarm Cloack and Sleepwell. and keep getting the following error: Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate. Can any one help I tried re downloading the software and it did not work.

I updated my Q today with no issues. I have XP and the upgrade process failed in the middle, so I had to disconnect from the PC and reconnect, but then continued with no issues.

I'm amazed at the battery life with the new firmware/software update. If you get the candellight program, which toggles the backlight from bright/dim, you'll be amazed on the battery life. Usually I have to charge my Q daily, and from what I'm seeing, I could go many days without charging.

I do like the alphanumeric dailpad when dailing. I did have to set up my direct push and pop email account again, which was a bummer. All my home screens and other user settings were placed back on the phone with no issues.

Now if I could only get Sprint to make my phone a hybrid with push to talk, I'll have 4 bars of coverage everywhere and would be very very happy.

Default is the upgrade worth the effort?

My 6 month old Verizon Q is flawless. Deleting Verizon's wireless sync in the first few days of ownership solved the exchange server conflict problem and that has been my only issue...ever. I use facade, Qcaps, powertasks and core media player. They work great so why reload? I use an extended battery which gets me through a 12 hour day with moderate data usage. Why screw up a good thing? Are the improvements really worth the effort?

Hi, first post Sprint rep here. I, for one would hate a hybrid Q. While possible, expect to see horrible battery life if released. I have had about 12 hybrid phones returned in the past month for poor battery performance. The issue is that the phone is constantly searching for two networks rather than one. Some of the customers said that it sometimes lasts half a day with regular use. I would rather wait for the Ready Link/Direct Connect gateway (Sprint walkie and Nextel walkie crossover) than buy a hybrid.

Smile Glad this update came out.... almost took the Q back.

I was already having too many problems with this Q.
  1. Crashing way too much!
  2. Multitasking sucked...it crashes almost always.
  3. Calls would freeze. someone would call me and it would not let me answer the call yet showed the answer key blinking.
  4. Bluetooth would not detect my GPS device
  5. Several times it would not show me on a call yet i was talking to someone through my BT headset.
  6. SLOW the Q RAN SO SLOW!!!!
I finally am free of this crap it was a horrible first 3 weeks with the phone. Battery issue went away as most people told me it would lasting 30min to 5hrs.. now i would have to say all day (with heavy phone and internet use).
And since I installed the update (also did a master reset) then re-Synced and restored my goodies...this phone has been so smooth you would almost think it wasn't the same hardware! oh and BT detect the GPS module and it works well with live search, google needs help with gps. The speed has also picked up!

Now i can actually recommend the Q to people instead of pushing them away from it.

Default For those who went to sprint

I was curious for those who went to sprint to do the update, did it cost anything? Also I have vista ultimate and I want to backup my contacts and pretty much everything but I don't have outlook. Is there anyway for me to get everything backed up without outlook?

Sorry, I could be wrong, but I dont think the update works on Vista. I downloaded the update from Motorola's website and the req's said WinXP or 2000 w/SP4. As for backing up without Outlook, I think your out of luck on that one as well. I hope I'm wrong, atleast for your sake

Hey!!! Turn that frown up side down
