I've modified the Motorola Software Installer MSI file to allow you to install it on Vista. It's uploading on MegaUpload right now for anyone who may want to try it.

I've installed it on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit Machine, but even after installation the Software Updater application doesnt recognize my phone as being connected XD.

Oh well, maybe someone else will have more luck then I did on Vista

Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7LZSVE3B

Feel free to scan for virus's etc..

P.S. If this shouldnt be posted feel free to delete my link T_T.

P.S.S. Havent been able to get it to recognize the device, even got Active sync installed on Vista but it doesnt help :D

Tried it today and it begins to update, the screen goes black etc., and then it says not connected when the update gets to 24%. I'll try on my desktop when I get home. My Q is brand new, just got it today, but the program says my software isn't up to date. Hopefully this will fix my problems with connecting to the net.

According to Motorola support, Motorola Software Update will have Vista 32-bit support for Sprint Q by May 30. (That's on the web-based MSU app, not the standalone Verizon Q app.)

My phone has this version, so this means I have the latest version of the software and do not need to install any updates?

Default Software Update and Battery Life

Alright, I did the same thing- went for the update and found out that it had already been updated. This concerned me, I thought I was doomed to suffer with a phone that would spratically take a charge. Nay! Once I saw that my phone needed no update, I performed a master reset on my Q. (This was done after I had backed all my phone-philes up)- and now the thing runs like a sewing machine. I wanted to verify that it was running right by giving it about a week- I did, the thing hasn't any issues now.

Therefore, if your software is up-to-date and you have a new Q that is giving you problems, I would highly recommend manually performing a hard reset on the phone.

Laters,
MaleskiQ

Default Buggy update at best

I just tried to send an email through my hotmail account, does not work. Tried several settings, but still nothing. The phone sends texts just fine. Anyone else having this problem??

I will report back tomorrow when I have charged it overnight and made a few calls and then tried to access the internet.

They changed the servers a while back to pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com, but I don't think you'd have been able to send email for a month or so now if that was the problem.

See, I do not mind the whole MSI package, but, package it in x64 for grief sake!
