Default No Calls During Data Roaming

I am a new Moto Q/Sprint customer (longtime Nextel user).

Every couple of days while sitting at my desk at work my phone's "EV" icon will change to a "1X" indicating that I have roamed to a network with slower data speed.

When this happens I can not make or receive phone calls even though I have 2 to 3 bars of service.

Is my service indicator inaccurate?

Have I found a bug?

Is there a way to correct this (Hack or other software)?

Thanks for you help.

Dial and "Call" ##33284#.
Choose Option B - Field Test Menu.
Choose Option G - DDTM.
Switch it Off.

This will allow Calls to come through while using Data.

You should save this in your Contacts because everytime the Phone is turned off, you will need to do this again.

Turning the DDTM value to OFF did not work. So I experimented a little while leaving the DDTM set to off.

I found if I set: F HRD Hybrid: Hybrid Off, everything seems to work OK (both phone and internet) even while data roaming.

What does this setting do and is it ok to have it set to off?

Thanks.

R U saying the "DDTM off"worked for you or the "Hybrid Off" worked?

DDTM has something to do with prioritizing voice over data on your phone...that's about the gist if it (all I know about the setting"

As for the "Hybrid Off" function forced the phone to stay on a 1X data connection instead of constantly searching for a better EVDO connection ( At least this is what it seems to do, maybe someone else can comment.) Sometimes it seems I can not receive calls when the phone is searching for the faster data connection. So at work, if I am gaving troubl, I will turn "Hybrid" to "Off".

Hope this helps!
