| MOL 3/4 Updates, 1x/EVDO I finally did the MOL 3 and 4 updates. Everything went fine, it only took about 20 minutes. All of my pictures and videos were still there. The only problem is that now my phone is always in 1x instead of EVDO. How do I get it back to EVDO? I've tried turning the phone on and off. I'd rather try something else before a master reset. Aside from the internet being slow now, I can't get phone calls while I'm on it because I'm using 1x instead of EVDO. Help, please!
Yes, I searched before I asked. |

| PRL is Primary Roaming List. Basicaly, its a tower update for your phone as ur previous EV tower settings were wacked when u did the update. *2 calls customer service but before u get the standard recording welcoming u to sprint, it will say "we have determined that an update for your service is needed" then u stay on the line and the recorded voice tells u the update is complete. Then u power down the phone, take battery out, put it back in and turn phone on again. Finally, u call *2 again to make sure the update took. If you dont here the update recording and go straigt to cust. service menu then u are good to go. HTH later. |

If you dont here the update recording and go straigt to cust. service menu then u are good to go. HTH later. | I'm on the phone with Sprint now. When I dialed *2 it went to the regular menu, it didn't tell me that I needed an update. I'm sure you will be just as surprised as I was that the rep I'm talking to doesn't have any idea what I'm talking about. I'm on hold....
I had tried taking the battery out earlier, but that didn't fix it. I'm still on hold....
Not on hold anymore, she told me to update my vision profile, which I've done a million times. She asked if I've ever been able to access the Power Vision Network on this phone at this location. I explained that yes I have and still can with a 1x connection but not an EVDO connection. She asked what the problem was if I can access the internet. She said she would transfer me to tech support, but hung up on me instead. Yes, I was again surprised.
I'm talking to tech support now.... |

| Tech support was no help. He tried a couple of things, still says 1x, so he told me to do a master reset, which I really don't want to do.
He said the PRL update wouldn't help because it updates the roaming towers, and when I'm using EVDO I'm using a Sprint tower.
Thank you so much for trying to help. Any other ideas? |

correction, you have to call in FIRST to customer service and ask them to flag your phone for a PRL update. Once they do that, THEN you call *2 and it will tell you there's an update waiting and it will do it automatically....just calling *2 will not trigger a PRL update, you have to request it. Dunno if it will solve this problem or not, but it can't hurt. Call back and request it, and if they give you the "it wont help" crap, tell them you want it anyway... |

I called *2 and waited for the update. Still didn't fix my problem.
The reason I waited so long to do the MOL updates was because I was afraid it was going to mess up my phone. I finally got tired of seeing letters instead of numbers when I was entering a phone number to text, and knowing that the update would fix this, I decided to be brave and try it. I was so excited that after the update my phone was exactly as it was before the update. Then I noticed that the 1x was always there, and I've never seen the EV again.
Help! |

Help! | Try setting your phone to roam only, then sprint only then automatic..making calls in between each setting. If that doesnt work.
Call into advanced tech and ask them to reload your HLR's..probably wont work either, but also try deprogramming and reprogramming your phone...

What does "reload your HLR's" mean? He had be go through the "activation" process with my phone again, like I did when I first got it. Then he said he was sending some information to my phone. I saw some numbers and letters flash across my screen as he did this. I don't know for sure what all he did.
I did try changing the settings between roam only, sprint only, and automatic. No luck! |
