If you do this, be prepared to carry through and actually cancel. Sometimes, retention will call your bluff (particularly if they sense you have been "coached" on online forums such as this). It's imporant to be sincere...they have been bombarded with people trying to effectively scam Sprint into giving away equipment/service b/c of internet forums. They are getting smarter. Remember, retentions exists for those who truely are trying to cancel. If you talk it, be prepared to follow through.
Glad you said that. It's been my experience in life that people can smell a scam, so as corny as it may sound/be, sincerity is the best policy. Now, I'm off to plot my convo to Sprint regarding my lady's line and phone....

Their Sprint Store lied to me about having a Q in stock...when I showed up with a recently purchased a900m to return, it turns out they didn't have it, but a store 20 minutes away had it. It was my only day off, so I went...they didn't have it, but he said the store I was just at had it.

Anyway...long story short, 4 phone calls to non-english speaking sprint CSR's and 3 days later, I bought a Verizon Moto Q...returned my a900m to sprint outright, just got done calling in to cancel my Sprint service, and she hooked me up.

I told her too little too late...I explained to the CSR's 3 times already that over the next 2 years I'm going to be spending $2000+ in monthly bills and that all I have to pay is a $150 early termination fee...and they didn't want to do a single thing.

Anyway, she made me a pretty good deal and is shipping me one overnight. As much as I absolutely HATE what happened to me, I did get hooked up on the phone and my monthly plan...

It's ridiculous...anyone can act nice when they're about to lose a customer...what they need to do is act nice and take care of their customers before it even gets to that point. I'm not entirely thrilled because the one time I did call VZQ CS, I got a very helpful english speaking lady that even asked about what was happening in the superbowl...

Sprint needs to wise up if they care about their customers. If it wasn't for the fact that my girlfriend has Sprint and isn't willing to switch to Verizon, and the fact that Verizon's data plan is double, I would have switched no matter what deal this lady at Sprint tried to give me.
I think everyone who deals with Sprint experiences this once or twice during their contract term. But you make a great point, one I've pointed out to Sprint (and Motorola when on the line about my miniSD card and headphones) on a number of occasions. The in-store reps know less than the phone reps. The phone reps know less than the corperate heads and even less about the industry news at large. No one is EVER on the same page, thus the constant "Retention Convention".

p.s. As for the answer to this thread, I got mine through a store owner I became friends with, and basiclly traded my Treo 700w+ $150 for my Q. Sometimes I think I got gipped but hell I wanted the Q since knowing about it in late '05. But I must say that I love this forum and the people on it (although I don't know any of you) and it's been VERY helpful, moreso than ANY CSR ANYWHERE has been. Don't know what that means to you but it means alot to me.

Same here, except the $100 came from Sprint in the mail for staying with them- since I just signed a new contract, they honored the coupon.
Plus Sprint gave me a $25 credit because of not having the mini SD and the headset. So everything I got from Sprint was applied directly to my bill.
Then I sold my Treo 650 for another $175. Which more than paid for itself over the past few years.
So I basically got paid to have the phone,
Not bad!

Sprint was asking $200 for this phone when I bought it from their website. They sent me a $100 rebate in the mail, and (apparently) because I hung around changing my mind (which plan to get, mainly), they also offered me another $25 instant online rebate.

In short, $75, all told.

Best sub-$100 phone I've owned

Thank You Power for posting the phone number for the Retention Deptment! I spoke to Kevin and man did he hook me up! We have 4 lines and our original 2yr contract just ran out. I got a Q for $99.00, Razor for $49.00 and 2 Katana's (pink & black) for $29.00 no rebates and the phones are charged to my account. So today I'm suppose to get all 4 phones delivered for free and no activation fees and no $'s out of pocket today. But I will have to pay on next months bill! Thanks again!

I just got a red RAZR and Moto Q for a combined total of -$10.00, free overnight shipping, no activation charges. Called retentions since my contract was up in May. I got a decent plan on the first call, but had to call back a second time to get decent prices on the phones: $30 for the RAZR, $60 for the Q, down from $60 and $100. Ordered them that night and in the morning noticed there were $50 service credits for each phone, and called CS to have them added. So my next bill will have $90 in phones and $100 in service credits.

To answer your question, I paid $99. Flat price, no MIR/etc.
Me too, but i did send in a rebate, wonder if they will honor it...
