Default Getting out of the contract?

In August, Sprint is raising the Roaming charge. Now I signed up for Sprint back in April. I heard if they change charges or fees that is grounds to get out of your contract? Have I been mislead or is there any truth to such a statement?

I have heard about that and it is worth a try. Might have to try a bit of customer service roulette. I think I read about this on the Consumerist.com.

Why are you bailing on Sprint? I just jumped to AT&T and miss the quality of my Sprint service. I found it to be on par with Verizon Wireless.

You could alwasy call tech support constantly. Apparently that will get them to cancel your contract without penalty. No word on how many calls it takes, but they did let a large number of customers go with 30 days notice for making "excessive support calls" =)

I love the Q community. I've always been able to get reliable answers quickly. But sad to say, I hate the Q and Sprint even more. Maybe I'm not utilizing the phone correctly but I get dropped calls every time I dial. If thats not happening I dial a number, it rings 3-4 times then says, "We cannot complete your call at this time, please try again later." Of course I'm being charged for every minute I'm on the phone and get that message. Plus at my home, the service is pretty bad. I should have known b/c I was with Nextel before and my house was a dead spot and Sprint is with Nextel. LOL. Well wish me luck, maybe I'll buy into the Iphone hype. LOL.

If you are under contract with them, I believe that the charges that it states in your contract are the ones they will charge. The cost will go up for new accounts but not existing. At least that is my understanding.

I'm using AT&T now and I'm experiencing the same issue that happens in their witty commercials about the competition. "The fewest dropped calls". Complete and utter phooey. For the past two years or so, I've been with both Verizon and Sprint. I never had issues with drops. In the first few weeks of AT&T, it happens regularly. I'm in Long Island, NY, so it's not like I'm in the sticks.

Good luck where ever you land and I do hope you're able to skip out of your Sprint contract without the breakage fee.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (it could have been on either wirelessdvisor.com or slickdeals.net) hat if your privider cannot give you a connection at home you have the right to terminate without an ETF.

Maybe a little web searching will give you some amunition.

maybe it's your phone. if you have issues with service then contact sprint and find out. maybe there it an outage and they will fix it or just let you out if they don't have enough coverage.

if you really wanted an iphone, just get an htc mogul through sprint and then modify the cab files. it's about 400$ cheaper and ends up being the same thing. iphone is just hype, it's wm6 with a modified cab file to give you an icon main page. simple and junk, definately not worth 600$

also, i don't think it matters about roaming since sprint has had free america roaming for quite some time now. I don't remember last time they actually had plans without free roaming. i take that back, the chepo, no minutes packages you do, but anything over 30$ a month will have free roam....so you probably can't use that.

This is one of the posts I found with a google search "cancel sprint without fee". This is direct from a post titled "Cancel Sprint Contract without Paying an Early Termination Fee".

According to Sprint’s terms and condition:
“If we change a material term of the Agreement and that change has a material adverse effect on you, you may terminate the Agreement without an early termination fee by calling 1-888-211-4727 within 30 days after the invoice date of the first invoice you receive after the changes go into effect.”

Direct Quote from posting:
"I told my friend about this and he was successfully able to cancel his contract with Sprint without paying the early termination fee (ETF) while he still had 2 year to go on contract. You need to call Sprint before you pay your bill. If you pay your bill, you are “agreeing” to these new terms."

Hope this helps.

i think the key is "material adverse change". since sprint plans are free roaming, minus the cheapo plan, raising roaming rates won't apply to him so i'm not sure if it would work.
