Yes I was only kidding. It would be nice to run WM6 on the Q though.

I don't know why but I just assumed you meant the Q9c. Yes, it would be nice to run WinMo 6 on the original Q. In fact, when Sprint sent me my Q9c to replace my Q I contemplated on whether I should try and put the Q9c software on the Q but decided against it since it was going back to Sprint. If I had an extra Q I would try it though. I'm sure that the Q9c software just won't run on the Q so easily but still I'd test it out and try my best to get it to work.

You would need to go to Motorola.com and select the alltel flash version...and yes, it will delete anything and everything on the q...it will 'try' to backup what you have, and in me experience, recovering the q's from this state, I have seen a 50/50 shot that it does save the data that is on the q...but only 50/50 shot...the last one i did using this method, restored all contacts...good luck!

Default Stuck in boot mode after battery ran down

I was in the middle of updating a Sprint Q to Cricket, I had loaded the Verizon MP and done enough that voice was working. I put the phone aside for a few days while waiting to get the ESN activated on Cricket, came back to it, battery dead, charged it some and I got :
Motorola Flash Mode
Bootloader Version
C_03_05.00R_mPAP

tried full charge on battery and A+Enter reset , still same screen

I have tried reloading the Sprint & Verizon Q monster packs (I had previously loaded the Verizon MP to this unit successfully) and rsdlite errors out after showing the following on the Q
INIT BP
AP Erasing
BP is Programming
IPL Successful
Writing MBM Successful
Q screen goes blank

I have tried the Motorola software update, with inclusive results. Is there anything it can do that RSDLITE and a good monster pack can't?

And what can I do to recover?

I've had my Q9c for about 2 1/2 weeks....liked it a lot until about an hour ago....I went to delete my "missed calls list" and I confirmed the delete, but they never went away......so I turned it off and back on and it's stuck on the screen with the motorola logo....tried the reset options and no luck.....I got rid of a blackberry because it would always mess up and it seemed like i was having problems and getting a new phone every other month...alas, here we are again....I'm not a techie guy, but I don't have to replace my computer every month, so why do I have to keep ^%E^#!* with cell phones.....So I guess tomorrow I'll go to sprint exchange it for something that might make it 2 months before I have to have it replaced.....

Unfortunately things like this are not only going to continue, but get worse for smartphones/pocket pc's - for that exact reason; they're becoming little mini-computers and well all know how well computers behave don't we? When you go mixing different types of software (often not developed or tested together) you're going to have some problems here & there.

Plug in your phone (without running MSU)
Go into device manager, Do you see Motorola Flash interface?
Does it have a yellow ! mark on it? if it does, right click and click uninstall.

*Unplug the phone
* turn the phone off (pull the battery and put it back in, turn it on)
*Put it in Flash Mode: Press and hold A and Enter at the same time (if its not already in flash mode) while inserting the USB cable.

*It will then ask you to install Motorola Flash Interface.
Continue with the installation... You might get the Yellow ! mark again in device manager, (Dont worry!)
*uninstall it again
*Unplug Q
*Hook it up again. (Keep phone in flash mode)
*The Motorola Flash interface should now install properly.

*Then Open motorola software update tool
and Pick Verizon as your service provider and Q as the device.

Follow the instructions to start upgrade..
igotaq's instructions worked great for my vzw Q, thank you
why aren't more prominently written somewhere? or did I just miss it?
