The one i'm attempting to fix keeps locking up at the "initializing the bp" screen during the flash.

i've tried both vzw and sprint rom's using MSU.

On RSDlite 3.8, its doing the same thing.
The error message says that the flash failed because the phone did not "re-enumerate" after a ram downloader.

Is this a sprint q? Is it getting as far as starting the update and then it bombs? Are you using motorola's update from thier website?

Its a black verizon Q that someone else bricked.

I've used both the sprint and verizon MSU's from the motorola.com site, and i've tried to use RSDLite to flash it as well.

madrabbit, you need a full charged or new battery for this flash process.
mine was fixed in this way.

did not you read the posted that you quoted?

I've tried:
RSD Lite with Vzn, Sprint and Bell Firmware
MSU (sprint version)
MSU (verizon version)

All are failing after "initializing the bp" on the phone is displayed.

And yes, I'm using a FULLY charged battery. I'll charge two up using my good one, and start from there.
I didnt want to risk any other problems during the fix.

No, you're not understanding. The problem is completely device related.
Using the MSU updater, it locks up soon after getting into the ram downloader, at the initializing bp screen. The updater continues to try until it times out on the device end.

When using RSD lite, it also times out at the exact same point, but at least i get a better error message then it just stopping.

I'm convinced its a device problem and not with the software or connection.

This particular Q is apart at the moment, i canibilized it for its housing... Tomorrow or the following day, i'll get it back together and run the updaters and try and get some error logs or screen shots posted up here for more ideas.

That is absolutely incorrect. Any Sprint Q with MOL3 that you use as your Good Q will generate a message from the Mot updater that you are up to date, and no update/firmware will be downloaded. Verified with 3 Q's with MOL3. Two are separate good units and one is the one stuck at bootloader (was already MOL3 before it failed). Repeatable on different machines on XP and Vista.

So, you need an OLD version Q to force it to pull the update and start that process.

Unless someone can find the DLL/INI/registry key that controls the version check, and hack that, that would do wonders.
