After some more testing today, mine definitely doesn't ring through when data is being actively transmitted. Super lame. That's one of the main features of EV-DO data. I hate how Sprint now has 2 Windows Mobile devices with this problem. At least there was a fix for the PPC-6700 that I owned. I liked that the 700wx had the option to set whether a call interrupts a data session or not.
Ahammer, thanks for testing that for me. That is good to hear. Could you try 1 more test. Try streaming radio or slingbox through the Q and see if it interupts the session or not. Mine doesn't. If yours does then I may try and get a replacement. Thanks for you help.
Had the phone since Saturday, just started noticing this problem yesterday and today. I performed a bunch of test calls today while the phone was transferring data and every one of them rang several times and then either rolled to voicemail or rang and then went to a busy signal.
Went to the Sprint store, they won't look at it since they don't have them in the store yet. Called Technical Support, and they couldn't put their hands on a Q either, so they couldn't help. They've scheduled to call me tomorrow afternoon to troubleshoot. They seem pretty convinced there's a setting on the phone that determines whether you want data calls to be interrupted, but I haven't seen anything like that so far.
I talked to several techs just now, including the advanced data support (or whatever they call it), and they confirmed that the Q doesn't receive calls while actively transmitting data. They put a formal request on my account to have that feature added (I noted the Treo 700wx as having the option in the Phone settings to set whether or not it receives call while actively transmitting data), and told me to write an email in to the Contact Us page. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Hopefully someone else can find some better reps who can come up with a possible solution.
there's a option I just saw in one of the menus that ask " do you want data session interrupted by calls". Now I can't remember where I saw it. But check it out.
I would be thrilled if that were an option somewhere. If we have the same Q it isn't though. I've been through my menus extensively looking for it, and I don't have one.
"Ok, by dialing ##33284# Send you get to a menu... Click field test menu, and turn ddtm off. The thing is this setting does not save across a reboot. Enjoy, hopefully someone can make it save."
Sweet! Sure enough that works. Now lets hope someone somewhere can make it save. Until then I created a contact with the ##33284# number to make it easier to apply after a reboot. Thanks for the info widdlewade.
Well, I just got a callback from Sprint advanced tech support department. Armed with the info about the ##33284# dialcode and turning ddtm off, I was quickly connected to their super advanced tech support department. After explaining the situation to them as well (again, the dialcode info helped a ton), they connected me to their super-duper advanced top-of-the-line tech support department. Obviously there isn't any permanent fix available yet, but they are notifying their supervisors, Motorola, and placing notes in the known bugs for fix in upcoming updates. Hopefully we can get this issue fixed before then though.
