Default 1x question

ive heard that switching to 1x instead of EV can help battery life, so i want to do that. i dialed ##* and it rang a couple times then said i had the wrong code. did i do something wrong or has something changed?

I was going to do the same thing, but i called the tech dept and they said that the phone changes it own self and it is better that was becuase if you r battery is low it automaticaly changes itself.

yea, but in my house i get bad reception (which doesnt bother me because i have a house phone and a computer) and it seems like it would really drain the battery trying to reconnect to EV only to lose the connectin and do it again. if thats my misconception then i guess it doesnt mater after all.

Mine does it all the time while i travel and my batter stay strong. I have full reception in my house. The batteries are not that great to begin with. Do like I did and download the power management to fix levels for everything!!!!

There is a way to do this with sprint. (Note - I can't promise anything, but I was able to do this and help my battery life signifantly!)

##33284# (then green call button) will get you into the Field test mode screen. Under the field test menu you can change HDR preference to one of (auto, CDMA only, EvDO only)... If you're not in EvDO or in a terrible cell area, switching to CDMA only 'SHOULD' have it searching less and thus save battery life.

Worked for me!
