Default Windows Live Search

Wow this is actually pretty nice. I think MS may actually have a winner here. I have only been playing with it for an hour but here you go:

* It shows you directions, with a little circle on each turn. By using the d- pad you can see the text for the directions below the map.
* Traffic seems up to date
* Sat view with directions is nice
* Category seach on bars near my home, very inclusive and correct
* Search is great . . . select a result and dial, map to, map from, or search near all one handed
* navigation is smooth and a lot faster than some of the other I have used. GREAT transition to zoom as opposed to complete redraw of the map
* graphics seem to be great so far!

IT HAS AN OPTION FOR GPS . . . I don't have a receiver yet so not sure on that.

If this works well with GPS I think it is a slam dunk. The only think missing would be voice nav.

<<EDIT I also do not see an option to map from a contact>>

This looks like it could be a winner. I have a GSat BT-359 GPS, and it doesnt see it right now. I hope they release an update to make it work.

It isnt that i don't like Map4PDA, but the Driving Directions are a little difficult to work with.

it is still a beta, so I hope they will. Here is the real web page link. You can go under Live Search and leave some feedback about the GPS.

Informative

Hello all,

I think this app is one of the best Windows Mobile apps I've ever used. I was also able to successfully pair my Deluo GPS Lite to it and turn on tracking. That was tonight so i didn't get a chance to hit the road with it, but I will tomorrow and report back.

Default It is very fast too!

I played with it yesterday to pull a few numbers for a local "health club" and it found them very fast... I tabbed to the number and "called"... One item that would be nice would be to have the option to save the item to contacts with a click...

Thank you so much for sharing this. I posted a thread yesterday about how using MapQuest freezes my phone. You are a life saver. I just downloaded about 15 min ago, and have been checking it out. I really like it. Thank you once again.
