That's what I was thinking, Cindra. Maybe the ringtone file is too big...I have original Q/Rudeboy has Q9c. Vito works on both. Try pm-ing bobby-n. He is the resident Vito expert...Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Cindra and Sherry, this may be of more help than you know. I will try pm'ing bobby-n. There's a hack for everything, and I would imagine there is a hack for increasing the limited size of the ringtone file. And if I find out, I will let everyone know.

Mystery solved! I had noticed that the two or three ringtones that would save were small files. I did a search on ringtone size limitations and found the following post:

http://www.everythingq.com/forum/mot...q9h-14558.html

As the instructions there say, using the registry, go to HKEY Current User> control panel > sounds. Look for the file called 'file size limit'. The instructions say to delete the DWORD, which is a 6 digit number, 3072000. My Q would not let me delete it. So I added a couple of zero's. Now things work like a charm! Problem for me now is that I might get addicted to making ringtones! I guess I'll need a bigger storage card!

Yup, glad it worked! Definitely easy to become addicted to making ringtones this way (THANKS AGAIN, BOBBY-N!!).

Now I just wish there was a program that would enable to phone to "shuffle" the ringtones...

Sherry, it wasn't Bobby-n, it was someone named ibcop who posted the thread I saw. And, about the ringtone shuffle thing, speak loudly enough here and who knows, someone might hear you and figure out a way to do it! Wouldn't that be a hoot!!

Cindra, thanks again for giving me the 'search phrase' I needed here. I'm still so new and sometimes you don't quite know what to plug into the search thingie, especially when you're not really quite sure what the problem is anyway!

And it 'does' appear to be a problem unique to the Q9h, which starts out with a ringtone limit of 600kb, which AT&T knocks down to 300kb. Upping that was really essential to me. I'm into movie soundtracks and most of those are large files anyway.

Thanks again Cindra, Sherry.....and ibcop!

You're most welcome jb0615! I'm just happy you got it working. Once you said you had the 9h, I figured that was your problem since I also went through the headache of that size limitation, too!

One thing you learn around here pretty quickly..."search" is your friend!!

Yeah, LOL, 'search' is great! And I did search early on and couldn't find any answers. I guess it helps to know 'what' to search for, and you and Sherry pointed me in the right direction. I thought it was Vito or something quirky with my Q, size limitation didn't even cross my mind, so I didn't think to search for that!
Thanks again,
jb0615

Oh wow, in one post I became an 'enthusiast'! I wondered when I would reach the next level. I hope it bestows some extra 'smarts' on me.
