ok.. well, if it's a web site where the webmaster doesn't believe in satisfying "users" the only trick might be zipping and/or renaming the files.. would that be an option ?

Yea,

That's what I do now -- rename the stuff as .wav or something... Silly...

I'll bite. I'm lost. Are you trying to send a cab to the phone by storing it at a site and downloading it?

yes, that is the ultimate goal here... a lot of the free web space hosts do not recognize cab's as a compressed file.
