You do not need Sprint Navigation.
You should check your settings. Make sure the GPS setting in Google Maps is set to Set by Windows. Alternatively, you may want to try Windows Live Search (the GPS settings in Windows Live Search need to be set to Intermediate Driver) and see if it works any better for you. I have a copy of the CAB file on my apps page if you need it. Also, it helps if you're outside when trying to get a GPS lock.
