Unlocking my phone for hacks

How can I unlock my phone so I can use Smart Tweaks or other registry editing software? I have a Verizon phone and I would love to be able to implement some hacks. What can I do???

The only problem is I'm having trouble locating the cab file: secpolicies.cab

Is anyone willing to share their copy? I would be very greatful!

So my troubles continue.... I read a post a while back from Scottjb saying that we can unlock the phone by altering the registry values (though he actually posted the recommendation on multiple sites) http://www.modaco.com/Unlocking-the-...s-t242358.html.

The only problem is I'm not able to change the values. I get a nasty error message saying "access denied"! How can I get access? Anybody have a clue?

I am not sure about the problems you are having. I too have a Verizon phone, and i have absolutely no problems when it comes to making Reg Hacks work. I didnt have the problems on the original software, nor on any of the updates. I just flashed my phone yesterday and upgraded to the latest version, and have done the speed hacks, the Dial Pad, and numerous others. I use Resco for the registry editor, don't know if that helps.

Thanks. I was able to hack the registry also, but I wasn't able to download programs like smart tweaker. However, I figured it out. There's a post about how to unlock your phone on the forum. I got into the registry and everything worked like a charm. If anyone else has questions, hit me up! Thanks!

The above link saved my day.... Much appreciated for posting it!! Post back or pm me if you still need the cab file... Amazingly easy to do, it was all the searching to finally get to your post that was a real PITA!!
