Default TCMP problems

Some movies I have in .3GP and .3g2 format work just fine. others only play 5 seconds of the begining(video and sound). No issues with .mpg .I cant find any relation to diagnose the situation. Im a noob here and I have searched the forum, but could not find any threads regarding this issue. I got a Q with TCPMP .72rc1 with xvid, aac plug in and core mp4.

I know the video camera on the phone uses the QCELP codec for audio which is a proprietary Qualcomm codec. TCPMP doesn't have support for that at all. I have noticed tho that if you have Quicktime installed on your computer, you should be able to play the .3gp and .3g2 files with video and audio. You can try to make sure the video is not corrupt that way.

As for playing them on the Q, try them under WMP.... Do they work?

Another thing is to download some software on your desktop called GSpot. It analyzes the movie file to tell you what codecs it uses for video and audio... that might help in diagnosing the problem too.

If WMP is doing the same, I would suspect there is an OS problem with the Q. You can try an update from Motorola. I did that to mine when I got it, just to make sure I was at the newest patch and such. That may fix the issue, however keep in mind that those updates reset the Q to basic default settings and you loose everything on it.
