Default taking notes?

I am new to the Q.
I would like to be able to jot notes to myself. The 'recording' feature is fine, but I would rather type the notes out.
Can anyone recommend some software for me? What does everybody use?
Thanks,
BDH

I have Extreme Agenda but still use SmartphoneNotes just because it syncs with my Outlook notes.

You could also use the free Vieka Wordpad, I use that as well for editing .txt and .xml files.

I'm not the only one here who remembers DOS? First PC was a Zenith with 20MB Winchester disk and cutting-edge VGA graphics--damn it was expensive (shudders at the recollection).

not at all... i still actually use DOS (4dos) on a daily basis. my first pc was an Olivetti with NO hdd, 2 5 1/4 floppy disks, took 2 disks to boot... plus halfway down in programs you had to load the second, 3rd etc. disk. those were simpler -in some ways better- times.
