Spell Checker for Q - Motorola Q Forum

I haven't seen many threads on a spell checker for the Q. I spent quite a bit of time searching for a spell checker because the Q out of the box does not have one. For anyone that is in need of a spell checker I am using a program called PhatSpell Version 1.0. It can be purchased at www.phatware.com. The spell checker works in email which was my main need. I can't survive writing business emails without this capability so this software is a godsend. It also works within Word to Go which is part of Documents to Go that I also own. I can confirm the program works great.

I downloaded the trial once, and really really wanted it, but it didn't play well with Qcaps. I was bummed. Qcaps will have an addon called Qcorrect, that hopefully comes out soon.

Interesting that you mention Q Caps. I had it installed on my phone but found that it caused me all kinds of problems when trying to access voice mail systems where I was required to enter a credit card number, or press a given number for further access. Q caps changes something about the keys behind the scenes. As soon as I removed Q caps the problems went away. While, nice, I didn't feel Q Caps was that necessary. I wasn't aware of a compatibility issue with Phatspell. If choosing I would opt for the spell checker and bag Q caps. Have you encountered the similar problem I had?

yea, sometimes..and a couple of games I play too. But with the quick "Q" double pump to disable/enable it, it works great. I just keep it off till I use it. I still haven't gotten used to yet, but love it.

Gonna have to give PhatSpell another chance though...really would like it to work!

It works flawlessly from what I have experienced. You have to have the program open for it to work. I keep it open in the background all the time. There are various settings to choose from. To invoke the spell checker you just hold down the enter key for a couple seconds. This is a must have application for the Q in my view. If you run into any trouble or have questions let me know. i think that "rumor" of it coming out soon has been going around since i got the Q... bummer 'cuz me as an aushlander should have at least a spell-check on my phone :}

Ahhh bummer. I don't know, you seem to have pretty good spelling "skills"!

Same deal for QCopy&Paste??

i e-mailed with someone from Qoolapps and i think they were having issues with this, and he was not sure if it would ever be released... now you got me doubting if he was talking about C&P or QSpell...

I remember now why I couldn't try Phatspell..got the error "device security settings do not allow to initialize keyboard hook". I've never had security problems with installing/running 3rd party apps, but I did try the AEConfig thing anyway and that didnt fix.

I do keep my device lock on and set for 24hrs to keep my companies IT dept off my back, but I disabled that temporarily to see, but I still get same error.

Thats why I figured QCaps > keyboard hooking...dunno??

you might be right that it "hooks" the keyboard.... never heard of that error though, did you contact Qoolapps about this ?
